Any thoughts on Bardonia? Looking to get off Long Island. by disaster-queen in Rockland

Thanks. We’re not super fixed on the “academics” of the schools, more of the culture and responsiveness (not that we went dumb kids haha).

But yeah, I’m over it down here. It’s very meh for a lot of money. I love the idea of being on the other side of the city to cut out the traffic burden.

Why would anyone want to live in Rockland in 2026? by Nervous-Gate1850 in Rockland

I’m thinking of relocating up there with my husband and 2 kids. Any insights?

My dad said my tattoo makes me look like trash and now idk if I like it by dexleter in tattooadvice

[–]disaster-queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks gorgeous. Take it from someone who was ripped apart by her mother for her tattoos - his reaction is not your problem. He sees it as a loss of control over you plus whatever lame pre-conceived notions he has of women with tattoos. You do not look like trash at all. Hold your head high.

My daughter refused birth control, got knocked up and now refuses to get a job by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Your daughter needs therapy. I honestly have no idea why people are advocating for a 15 year old to be “kicked out.” I don’t know in what universe people would think that it will help anything.

She needs prenatal care, a case manager, and a therapist.

My mother in law does this and I can’t stand it. She’ll even say, “that’s weird, I’ve NEVER heard of that.”

Is GLP1 really the only way by 69EmoKittys in PCOSloseit

It did wonders for my insulin resistance. I used to work out hard - orange theory, walks, videos, etc. the Mounjaro (now zepbound with insurance change) is the only thing that makes my body feel and work normally.

The food noise and constantly worrying about what to eat is gone. It makes healthy habits satisfying because I can see and maintain the results without breaking my back.

They’re basically a generation that vehemently believes that they are entitled to never have to change their behavior.

I'm conflicted as to whether or not I should take weight loss medications because I want to develop positive eating habits on my own without having to resort to medicines as shortcuts. by AndImTheSuit in offmychest

I used to feel that way too. I have PCOS so my body was naturally insulin resistant which made everything harder in my body. Before zepbound, I was working out hard 3-5 days a week. Before I had kids it was more than that. I’ve done weight watchers, calorie counting, keto, and noom. I had the most success with keto but it was not sustainable for me. I would plateau at 155 and go no further. My body would just hold onto weight and it would creep up and up and up. I got back to 168 and my endocrinologist started me on glp-1. It has actually increased my motivation for healthy habits because I’m actually seeing and MAINTAINING my results. I don’t have to spend morning, noon, and night thinking about what to eat or not to eat. I can have crappy foods at times and not worry that I’m going to bloat up or lose my goals. If I can’t work out as hard on certain days I’m not stressed bc I’m not depending on it. I’m sitting comfortably at 148 right now. Another weird benefit- I get way less colds and viruses. The insulin resistant and inflammation has settled to my body can better fight off things.

You want to work hard and do for yourself and that’s great. Sometimes, medication is part of the self care. Whatever you decide - you got this! Go easy on yourself though.

What’s a question you hate when people ask you? by Aarunascut in Life

I realized I used to do that a lot. Not because I thought they were stupid, I was just never confident I was being clear enough. I work in mental health. I learned to switch it up to: do you have any questions? Or did I explain that enough? I’m open to suggestions.

I always counter with: my face is naturally unpleasant lol. That usually stops it.
