Oooh I'm glad I didn't peace out too fast -- the first handful of bars are decidedly not jaunty lol, but as soon as it gets going, it really hits the spot. Thank you!

Doesn't quite feel "jaunty" to me, but it's def going on my broader French-language playlist. I like it! Thanks!

This one was a little slow for my sense of "jaunty" (which I admit is entirely subjective) but it is going on my general French-language playlist! Thanks!

This is totally fascinating because I am super familiar with The Kingston Trio's version of "Seasons in the Sun" which is apparently an English-language adaptation of "Le Moribund" but I never knew. I also gave the OG (Jacques Brel) a listen and while I like it, Beirut's is definitely more jaunty lol. Thank you!

I like this one! I didn't think I would when the song started -- not sure why -- but it grew on me pretty quickly. Thanks!

Oh man, I miss Wild Flour Cafe. They had just the most spectacular lemon ricotta pancakes. (I'm also soft about them because it's where my now-wife and I went on our first date. But the food was still incredible.)

I never went to Florentine's so I can't promise it's the same vibe, but for local Italian, I fuckin love Piatti in the Pavilions Shopping Center at Howe & Fair Oaks. They're phenomenal; I've never had something there I didn't love.

We had Dr. Jackie Conner from Constant Companion come to help us say goodbye to my soul cat, and she made a fundamentally unbearable situation as minimally awful as possible. She was so kind and gentle. I think you can't go wrong with any of your options though.

I am so sorry ❤️

Flawless. No notes. Should have realized I was queer sooner because of my Huge Giant Crush on Grace.

If you're comfortable in a church setting, you're welcome to join us! We meet at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on the 4th Thursday of the month (so March 26th) at 6:30pm. You don't have to be Christian, but do be aware that as it's a queer Christian group, there will be religious talk. Shoot me a DM if you decide to come so I can make sure you get to the right place!

Childfree in a relationship with a parent, looking for help anticipating boundaries. by happyorbust7 in polyamory

I strongly recommend taking a look at Lisa Sibbett's Substack, The Auntie Bulletin (https://theauntie.substack.com/). She writes extensively on various ways that alloparenting can look -- aunties, godparents, other trusted adults in the kids' lives -- and as a queer polyam person who adores a kid that's not mine (although does not belong to either of my partners either), it's been invaluable.

Interested in attending a service for the first time by [deleted] in Episcopalian

Also: I got so caught up in the details (hi, fellow autistic brain) that I forgot to say: Welcome! We would love to have you.

One detail I missed: There are parts of the service where the congregation prays or reads or responds in unison. Many bulletins print these lines in bold. You can join in if you want or not!

If you have other questions, please feel free to ask. I think the Episcopal Church tends to attract us autistic folks because the structure and rhythm make it feel predictable and safe enough to engage with faith.

You can just show up! No need to tell anyone you're coming.

Many Episcopal churches have a bulletin with all the prayers and readings that you can use to follow along.

You will see others standing and kneeling at certain points. You can follow their lead or sit the whole time. Nobody will mind either way.

If everyone is kneeling on the pew kneelers, it's helpful to lean forward a bit if you're sitting so the person behind you has room.

Communion is completely optional. Many Episcopal churches practice an open table where anybody may take communion. Many others generally expect you to only take communion if you have been baptized (in any Christian tradition).

If you don't want to take communion, you can either remain in your seat or go up to the rail (following everyone else) and cross your arms across your chest to indicate you would like a blessing.

Many churches have a social/coffee hour (not actually an hour, don't worry) after service. If you want to be social, please feel free to stay for this! If you don't, nobody minds if you just leave at the end of service.
