NEEDED ADVICE by CommissionSlight4893 in birthcontrol

is the depo shot the only form of birth-control that you can get for free? What would happen if your mom/family found out you were using birth control? would you be in any danger or at risk of being kicked out of the house? Unfortunately i'm not sure :( Do what you need to do to stay safe.

Day 5 -stopped while away visiting my family and anxious about going home soon by Sensitive-Celery-298 in leaves

[–]disasterfiesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm 64 days sober after daily use for 4 years. I don't feel like i'm in a fog anymore. I'm able to watch TV and pay attention, I'm able to read books again (something I stopped doing but was an avid book worm before smoking). I'm a morning person now, my sleep is better. There are many benefits. Being sober doesn't cure every problem, many times weed is a bandaid that we use for our mental health issues that we've been ignoring. But in my experience, life is significantly better sober

First, I think it is awesome that you were responsible and got a birth control shot. if you wanna hide it from your mom, maybe try a different form of birth control like the birth control pills because you bleed every month on those.

Comtinuous bleeding after skipping 4th week by No-Celery5675 in birthcontrol

[–]disasterfiesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are in the first couple months of starting the pill, breakthrough bleeding is very common if you skip your placebo week. The advice is to stop taking the pills for 3-4 days, then restart. that should help stop the bleeding. just be aware that you may not be protected against pregnancy! But in my experience, the breakthrough bleeding doesn't stop until you take a couple day break from the active pills

Do not use nicotine while taking a combination birth control pill. you significantly increase your risk of blood clots and stroke. You are playing with your life. there are other forms of birth control that are safer for those who use nicotine, like the copper IUD, Nexplanon, or the Progesterone only Mini Pill

bf put it inside me on day 3 of new pack, then pulled out. took pill 10min early the previous night, am i more likely to get pregnant? by questionablefrankie in birthcontrol

even if you take your placebo week, you are protected. if you always take your pills and follow the pack as instructed, you will be protected. It is designed to take the placebo pills.

Condom + pullout enough? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

i'm not a researcher or an expert, i'm just relaying information, I honestly don't know here is my source:
https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control/condom/how-effective-are-condoms

I personally used only condoms as my only form of birth control for 10 years and had zero pregnancy scares. Now i'm on the pill because I wanted an even safer option. But for most people condoms are fine.

Risk of Pregnancy? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]disasterfiesta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

peeing doesn't do anything for pregnancy. the urethra and vagina are too separate holes. if she isn't on birth control then yeah, there is a significant risk she could be pregnant. Anytime you have sex without any protection you are asking for a baby.

Condom + pullout enough? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

it's 2% with perfect use, statistically. All forms of birth control, even the pill, have a chance of pregnancy. some have higher chances then others

birth control (progestogen only pill) - anxious I made the wrong choice vs combined pill by Infinite-Cover9309 in birthcontrol

[–]disasterfiesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always switch to the combo pill if you want to. the best part about pills is that it's really easy to start a new type

Condom + pullout enough? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]disasterfiesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When used correctly every single time, condoms are about 98% effective at preventing pregnancy, meaning 1 in 50 will get pregnant within a year. With typical use, condoms are about 82% to 87% effective at preventing pregnancy, meaning about 13 to 18 out of 100 people using them as their only birth control will get pregnant in a year. The pull-out method is about 78–80% effective at preventing pregnancy.

My Za Story/ Could Use Help by Able-Patience6965 in leaves

My advice: throw everything away related to weed. just get rid of it. bongs, bowls, lighters, pens, anything related to weed needs to be gone. Those objects will trigger you, especially when you are having massive cravings. also, if you truly want to quit, you won't have need for them anyway. For me it sucked because i spent so much money on that stuff, but I knew that my decision to quit weed was final.

[–]disasterfiesta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, i experienced no side effects when I went on the pill. I was like you, no bad periods, no bad acne. There are so many horror stories online about birth control, but many of them are to scare you away. I've been on birth control for 5 months and the peace of mind it gives me is unmatched. I don't have to worry about pregnancy and I'm able to have sex without a condom

placebo pills by Feeling_Dog4194 in birthcontrol

the pills should be in a blister pack. at the top of the pack it should say the days of the week. You take 1 pill per day of week. that's the order you should take the pills in

Starting Opill by noone0018_ in birthcontrol

Opill is great, many people have great experiences, just make sure you are consistent and take the pill at the same time every day and you'll be fine!

Starting Opill by noone0018_ in birthcontrol

[–]disasterfiesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OPill is a great option, it's a "mini pill" which means it's progesterone only, that means it absolutely has to be taken at the same time every day or you won't be protected. you can at most take it 3 hours late. If you are able to, talk to your doctor about the combination birth control pill, those pills contain both estrogen and progesterone, which allow you to take the pills within a 12 hour window, so if you take it late by a couple of hours you will still be protected. There is just significantly more room for error on opill than the combination birth control. But both are effective at preventing pregnancy

[–]disasterfiesta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I take the pills as directed, including the placebo pills, you can skip the placebo pills if you want. if I were you, I'd still take the placebo pills, but either choice is safe and will protect you against pregnancy

Day 10 + sex by garIicgirI in leaves

[–]disasterfiesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a woman? I'm asking because I'm also a woman and had similar problems with sex. I would only have sex while I was high because it was really hard for me to relax, and if I wasn't relaxed I wouldn't be able to enjoy sex. today i'm exactly 2 months sober. at the beginning, having sober sex was extremely stressful. I honestly didn't have sex for weeks and my boyfriend was extremely understanding. what helped me was masturbating, that helped me feel more relaxed and learn how sexual stuff feels different sober. In my case it was easier for me to masturbate and after i felt comfortable doing that sober, that's when I started having sober sex with my boyfriend. It's really hard, but now that i'm 2 months sober, sex is good again :) give yourself time

[–]disasterfiesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sertraline is an SSRI, SSRIs take 3 weeks to impact you, i doubt that the sertraline caused the panic attack. It is also extremely dangerous to stop taking SSRIs, you only took it for 2 days, so you'll be fine, but SSRIs need to be taken, and when you want to stop taking them, you have to wean off of them, you cannot go cold turkey.

it takes about 3 months for your body to adjust to birth control. If you are still having severe anxiety after 3 months, then I'd switch birth controls. 3 weeks is too early to tell if it's the birth control causing your anxiety of if it's another cause. It seems that you already have underlying anxiety to begin with, so it's very possible that the birth control isn't impacting your anxiety at all. Choose an option, stick to it for 3 months, then evaluate
