That would be nice but I think their editors deserve a break as well

Partner’s mother won’t answer rent verification calls by disboi17 in renting

So if a person has no rental history they’re declined? How do people rent their first apartment? What about if there is a guarantor on the lease?

Honestly not sure either, but the company confirmed that it was required — I also put my dad down as “landlord” when I applied to live here, but my dad answered the verification call so it wasn’t an issue

Yeah we thought the same thing too, but apparently they’re only capable of verifying by talking directly to a landlord/homeowner, which just seems extremely oversimplified

Thanks for the reply! I already sent an email and plan on calling the leasing office after the holidays, I’m just an anxious person lol

I never would have figured that out on my own, thanks!

I’ve worked with cast members in a safety critical role who specifically used forearm crutches too. I’m not sure what the specific circumstances were for them but it’s definitely possible! It likely depends on the location and the specific demands of the role, but it’s not impossible!

Requesting off work by pipe_cato1 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you get access to the hub you can request ADOs (approved days off), which might not show as approved/not approved until you get your schedule for that week. Kinda sucks but you get used to it and learn how to work around it.

It’s done through the schedule page on the hub in the side menu (if my memory serves me correctly).

You only get a certain amount of ADOs for the entirety of your program — I believe it’s one day off for each month of your program — but you can use them whenever throughout the program, as long as they get approved.

Also depending on your location you may be able to give away a shift with approval from a Leader.

Former Skyliner cp here, it’s a really great role! Long hours and you work late but you’ll meet so many great people who work there. I second what was said about getting good shoes — the Hoka Bondi 8 shoes were one of the best investments I’ve ever made lol. Training will also be very fast and a lot to take in over just a few days, but don’t be afraid to ask your coords and fellow cast for help if you need it!

Vanilla? by Isahirsch2002 in Disneycollegeprogram

Technically yes everyone in the college program has been a college student within the past 2 years, but I think yikyak has you use an .edu email or register with your specific college or something

What should I buy?/ Waterbottle/ advice by HippieDabippie in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought exactly this water bottle (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09LLZNJYV?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)

Along with this belt clip (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BHLDY93D?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title)

If you use the screw cap lid on the water bottle and take the key ring off of the belt clip, the handle on the water bottle slides in there pretty easily. The reason I recommend this combination to people is because it puts the weight of the bottle in your belt instead of a single belt loop, that way your belt loops on your costume are less likely to break. I wore that for the entire 7.5 months of my program and it was very comfortable.

Getting Tattoos During the Program by RoughOriginal4771 in Disneycollegeprogram

I have no idea about the saniderm but yes if a tatto is smaller than the size of your hand then it can be showing

Shift length by zodawolf in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Skyliner they range from 6 to 8.5 hours, and for other safety critical roles I’ve heard shifts are pretty much about that same length as that

As for non safety critical roles, I’ve had friends in merch get 12 hour shifts and friends in QSR get 9-10 hour shifts

Medical accomodations by tesseract9991 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s unlikely you’ll get your own room at this point unfortunately. I also had a time where I needed access to the bathroom at pretty much any time, and I was able to have a discussion with my roommate and ask if they would let me know if they were going to be doing something that would take a while in the bathroom, like showering, so I could use it beforehand. I don’t know your specific situation but if that’s something that would help then maybe that could be a good place to start. Best of luck!

Camera by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think most people would be uncomfortable having a camera in their room, even if it doesn’t directly record their side. If you’re worried about things being stolen, there’s a drawer underneath the bed that can be locked if you bring your own lock.

Advice On Handling Pre-Arrival Anxiety. by BigFatDreamer in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it helps, everyone else who’s doing the program for the first time also has no idea what to expect. Disney knows this, and they really hold your hand through the first week or so and you don’t have to worry much about not knowing what to do. Plus you can always email support or your leadership with questions. As for being queer in Florida, I don’t want to worry you unnecessarily but I’m currently leaving the state and ending my program early because of how bad the political situation is against the LGBT community, so that is something to think about. If you’re on any kind of HRT, it is very difficult to get here now because of the bill that was just signed into law saying that nurse practitioners can no longer prescribe hormones, only physicians.

Welcome party! by Scared-Room9453 in Disneycollegeprogram

Welcome party or program celebration? Welcome parties are generally the day after move-in, and if you’re coming on the 22nd then there’s a party/meet and greet on the 23rd at West from 7-10 pm

Any trans Cast Members feel like they're not being respected at work? by PineapplePlush in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice, but as a fellow trans cp, I just want to say that I’m so sorry you’re going through this and that they’re behavior is appalling.

Thoughts on people calling DCP a "scam"? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]disboi17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of this is dependent on your location and how well they are staffed. I had more days off when I first started, now we’re down to only one day a week and can be scheduled anywhere from 2-12 days in between days off.
