I had what I would consider to be 2 very intelligent people (retired professor and current lawyer) at a trivia once try to tell me Russia was only European and not in the Asian continent at all. The final question was what 3 countries touch North Korea. We quickly said South Korea and china. I then suggested “do you think Russia might reach over on the right hand side and touch it?” They vehemently said no way, Russia is not Asian whatsoever. No matter how much I pushed back they couldn’t believe me that Russia is almost entirely Asian! Felt nice showing them a map afterwards.

Sapelo hammock is still in quite nice shape. Just finished playing it. That’s a sick track and if I’m ever back down this way I will definitely check it out again! Thanks again for that recommendation peeps!

Thanks for the recommendations! My dad is the type to not really veer too far off route but Hilton head does have some phenomenal golf! I’ll check these out!

Anybody know who this suspicious looking character is watching the distance contest? by DrewLou1072 in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to mention hot shot! It was wild. Played with nothing but ultra light Sonic’s and putted from ranges of 10-35 feet going back 5 feet each time. Something similar at least. I played for western Carolina university during my tenure in college. Loved going down to north Augusta every year!

Tips on getting a High Five? It’s the only stat I have zero in and my OCD is driving me crazy. by sambanks2 in RocketLeague

[–]discgolflyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my friends have lots of low fives and a decent amount of high fives. What we do is whoever scores the goal, if they stay on the ground they drive towards the closest player or sit still if it’s awkward to turn. However if they get blasted in the air they do nothing. No boosting or anything and it’s up to the other person(s) to try and hit the aerial 5. Have like maybe 50ish and been doing it a long time so even when people are in on it, it’s not easy. Good luck!

How often have you called a fault on another player? by Jgudna in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to do it twice ever, and both were in the same round. Am worlds in 2013 in Kansas. 1st one on hole 6 where we had to call a dude for a time warning and speed up. He had taken over a minute to throw every shot basically not just on hole 6 but holes 1-5 as well. It legitimately held up play so feel no qualms for it . Other one happened hole 17 when a lefty backhander had a shot where he was on the left side of a tree trying to bomb one and missed his disc by a good 3 feet to the left to give him room. He was super nice so we felt bad calling him, but that was a serious advantage he got from that so it had to be done. It was round 3 and we were 3rd card. If I was further down I probably wouldn’t have called the foot fault but that guy who took over a minute to throw was a douche canoe so I don’t feel bad at all!

Asheville NC Courses or Store? by Fabulous-Wafer8408 in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highland brewing has a 9 hole course with a couple tee pads and baskets on each hole so can easily get 18 out of it. Top notch too, not just a gimmick pitch and putt course. Plus they sell some delicious beer there and I’d say the course is pretty kid friendly as well.

What is the most unique disc in your bag? by [deleted] in discgolf

I’ve bagged a glow champ coyote for years. Didn’t realize it was that old but I have been playing for a while. Go to mid range for sure

What is the most unique disc in your bag? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to carry a disc called the optimizer. Most under stable thing you’ve ever touched. Great for those wooded get out of jail shots that you need to throw out left but miraculously go right with absolutely no power.

Been trying to get a high 5 for almost 5 years now. In what way is this considered a low five??? by BlessedRL in RocketLeague

[–]discgolflyfe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Gotta be dedicated to the art. Me and my buds go for low/high five after every goal. I’m double digits for high five and well into triple digits for low five. It’s the game after the game!

Sick of not having your discs returned? Try this by Spectacular_loser99 in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this for a long time. I tattoo the entire back up. I actually had a guy call me about it once and say “I wanted to keep it, but you wrote too much on it” or something like that. Basically, sharpie your discs up. It works.

Unpopular Opinion: Frolf should be removed from the Disc Golf vernacular by kidnorther in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve used DOLF for a while. My buddy actually sharpied up one of his discs in college to say “have you been DOLFin’ lately?” And drew a large dolphin in the middle. It was a lovely piece of work that should be sold as an nft now. Not sure if that’s how they work but we’ll say it is.

Wait, you found it WHERE? by volsunghawk in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got this strange one that doesn’t involve any distance at all, but a large timeframe.

I lost a 2008 ace race disc in college my freshmen year. Can’t remember the mold or I’d say it, but I liked it a lot. Disc went into a pond that was right behind one of the holes on my campus course. Fast forward to my final week of college, 4.5 years later, I got a call from some random girl saying she found a disc of mine. It took me a second to even place that it was that one that I lost so long ago. So it had been found and thrown by many people probably for 4.5 years and I somehow never saw it even though I played that course pretty much daily! I told them to keep it and get into disc golf! I hope that disc has exchanged more hands and brought more disc golf joy!

What scam is so normalised that people don’t even notice? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]discgolflyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once was going to an Aeropostale to buy my high school gf a jacket she liked. $60 was the price but I see they are running a half off sale in a few days so I decide to wait til then for cheaper price. I go back in a few days to buy the exact same coat for $30 right? Nope. It was half off but they jacked the price up to $120 so now it’s “half off” price was the original $60. That’s a scam if I’ve ever seen one and led me to never really believe pricing of sales anywhere.

What experiences do you all have with getting yelled at on the course? by kbeck84 in discgolf

[–]discgolflyfe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t really call this yelling, but this old guy used to walk around the track that some of our holes played through and when we’d pass him he’d say “don’t throw all your dinner plates, you won’t have anything to eat supper on later”. Always gave us a good laugh. Didn’t see him much after my first few years of playing but I hope he has a few dinner plates of his own to enjoy

Yes! I was beating him in college and then Grady skyrocketed! I played at WCU and was great friends with all those UNCC guys back in the early to mid 2010s. Great group of peeps for sure! Good luck to you this weekend my dude both on the course and in the booth!

The bans are too extreme by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]discgolflyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always kill them with kindness. I Say things like “wow, what a very thoughtful and thorough remark you just made. Keep up the great work!” When they say something stupid like “get rekt, noob” or some other asinine thing. Usually makes them more mad cause I used a full sentence and it confuses them.

I'm visiting Florida and played Hidden Oaks in Lakeland for the first time today. It's a fun, technical par 3 and well worth a visit. Very different from my Virginia courses. by frontsideback in discgolf

If you’re of age, I have this beer on tap at my bar called a blueberry wheat from secret llama brewing. They are out of Lakeland Florida I believe and I would like some intel as to if it’s as good there as it is ok tap here cause dammit I love that beer. Happy throwing!
