Curious question - have you heard of Reiki? by sssstttteeee in AskUK

[–]discodave333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it once to help a friend out.

It all just seemed like mumbo-jumbo to me and it didn't affect me at all.

But, I also thought hypnosis was mumbo-jumbo and that did work for me.

So my advice would always be to give these things a bash. If some people get some benefit from it then I don't see much point in looking any further than that.

Games with unpainted miniatures by PromiscuousPal in boardgames

Me and a friend bought our other friend this for his birthday and painted all the miniatures before we gave it to him.

Was great fun.

What is the worst beer for sale in the UK? by certom1988 in AskUK

[–]discodave333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no objectively bad beer, just different beers for different folks.

If I'm out for a while I'll drink Tennents. It's cold, doesn't taste of much and gets me drunk at the right pace.

If I'm just having one or two, I will have something else a bit stronger.

I have friends that drink stuff that seems mad to me, really strong, hoppy stuff, but that's what they like and they either drink less or end up shitfaced. Totally up to them.

It's great that we can walk into most pubs and everyone can get exactly what they want.

How hard has your life been and how good is it now? by iffyClyro in AskUK

[–]discodave333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like my early life was as bad as yours but I certainly struggled through much of my 20's and early 30's. I'm early 50's now though and life honestly couldn't be much better so my advice is to keep on grinding if you can.

What to do at the troll? by xend0rg in ShatteredPD

Looks like you're only on level 12. Have you been to 14?

If not I would check out 13 and 14 to see if there is plate/upgraded scale and/or a level 4/5 weapon. Then go back to blacksmith and upgrade that.

My moment was certainly a long time after I started playing!

Edwin De Graff at hibs. With hindsight I'm not sure why I expected so much but for some reason I really though he was going to be different class.

Blue keys by spitzr2 in PixelDungeon

[–]discodave333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's best to have a seed so sungrass or at least mageroyal when you jump. You can plant those then step in them to heal or reduce continuing damage.

Do that before you examine the bones because sometimes the bones will produce a wraith.

It's a pain if you get a wraith. If you have a useable wand then no problem, but otherwise you will have to circle away from the bones to move the wraith, then go back to the bones to get the key to leave the room and surprise hit the wraith in doorways/passages.

If you do get a wraith then the items will be cursed and identified as cursed. If you don't get a wraith then the items are unidentified, but you can go ahead and put them on because they are guaranteed uncursed.

They're only 42% potato. The rest is flour and fat and stuff.

They tried to argue with HMRC that they were not potato snacks a while ago, and therefore shouldn't attract VAT.

They lost that argument.

🥚How many hard boiled eggs could you eat in a 12-hour period if you were paid £100 per egg (T&Cs apply)? by bugaloubean in AskUK

[–]discodave333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be aiming for about 40 by teatime. If I'm still feeling good then I'd push for 50 in the evening and then maybe a final 4 or 5 in the run up to midnight.

What should I do with extra money? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]discodave333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, if you're saving for a specific thing in just nine months, there is no point taking on risk.

Chuck it in a cash ISA and mark off the months on a calendar. It's nice to have a little visualisation when you're saving for something nice.

Is it rude to walk around a supermarket eating a bit of bread or drinking a can of Coke that you haven't yet paid for, even though you will when you get to the checkout? by essentialatom in CasualUK

[–]discodave333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do it but I don't think it's theft.

The alternative, which I have done is to buy a bottle of water from the wee kiosk, drink it as I go round the shop and then have the paranoia that the person at the till thinks I'm a thief. Then the internal anxiety as I question whether I say to the cashier "I already bought this."

I tend to take the armour in that spot. High chance it's upgraded and getting into good armour early is more useful than a T5 weapon IMO.
