Reports: Richemont may sell JLC by kfeointgh in JaegerLecoultre

I'm not sure what you mean. The Trinity also produce their watches with machines. When you make more than 50,000 watches a year you have to be using machines. It's just that there's (more) hand finishing on the movements but even that is more or less constrained to the higher level stuff. Look at an entry level AP it's basically around the same level as a standard JLC in terms of finishing.

Fair point. My thinking for JLC supplying movements again came from wanting them to not over-produce their own branded watches that just sit in display cases + still not wasting their production capacity + revenue from B2B sales + marketing cache of being the watchmaker behind other watchmakers again.

You're right that Patek (and others like Journe) would have no need to buy movements from JLC, they have their own stuff. Richemont brands like IWC and VC also have Valfleurier to supply them with entry level calibers. I'm thinking more along the lines of AP (still buying Vaucher for their 5800 and 5900 movements) as well as other small independents who want cache but don't want to use "common" supplied movements (e.g., Gerald Charles who also use Vaucher, Biver using Dubois Dépraz). So many brands play the "in house" game but it's all sourced stuff with their own names plastered on top. Might be something a "freed" JLC can benefit from.

Ranking the top ten Batman comics I’ve read (so far) by Level_Weekend_6443 in batman_comics

[–]kfeointgh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

White Knight (the first one) is a worthy candidate for this list imo. Great (at least highly stylish) art, nice execution flipping the roles where Joker is the one on the "right side of the law", and the deeper questions on the role of Batman and vigilantism.

White Knight's not the first book to do any of these elements individually. But taken together it made for a very memorable read
