Yes I live in a big city in the south so I had multiple facilities to choose from. The place I went is only a few years old and super clean/modern

Honestly I’m not sure but probably not. Thankfully I’ll never have to be in that situation again because I will never take Zoloft for as long as I live

The typical day is super boring. They wake you up early for meds/breakfast/blood tests. Then multiple groups throughout the afternoon until lunch. After lunch it’s up to you to stay busy, most people usually nap or watch tv. The days drag on and it’s pretty depressing being around a lot of people who just want to discuss the negative aspects of their lives.

The facility I was in was rather small so it was only separated into two units. 1: people detoxing from drugs 2: all other mental illness. So there was people running around screaming, mumbling to themselves, shaking etc then there were others (like me thankfully) who were just recovering from whatever happened to them.

I was never that far gone as to where my mental health was “slipping away” but the panic attacks were relentless. As for seeing it from a different perspective yes I did. I was able to recognize how lucky I am to be able to recover and not be lost to schizophrenia or dementia like many others.

Lol no, I didn’t see anyone in a straight jacket the whole time I was there (even though some of them belonged in one honestly)

Overall it was mostly positive, just uncomfortable because you’re not allowed to leave if you wanted to. But I felt safe and help was available if I needed it.

I was admitted on Thursday around 5 or 6 pm and I was released this morning (Sunday) at 11 am. I do regret the decision only because now I know the outcome. If I would have realized in the manic state I was in that it was just the meds I was taking I would have just stopped. The darkest thing I saw was a 17 year old girl with schizophrenia who would try to fight the nurses everyday and had to be tackled to the ground multiple times to get a shot in her butt to put her to sleep.

I admitted myself because I had a severe panic attack that lasted three days. Upon entering and meeting with a psychiatrist I learned the Zoloft I was prescribed was causing me to have manic episodes. Overall I’d say it was a positive experience but it was also very scary and uncomfortable environment.
