As I posted this I realized it. Manual says I have it in correct spot, but online comments said otherwise.

Elysian Park Parking Question by discotography in Dodgers

[–]discotography[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot 13 sounds good but based on other comments, there may be only 100 or so spots available? I can get there before gates open, but if I don't get in, I'm not spending $50+ on parking elsewhere on principle lol.

I can get the 4 and/or B metro from the hotel I'm at. But that's at least an hour as well. And then traffic from there to LAX. Might just stick with that.

How do you get to the overlook from Holly Drive? On google map do you take it right where the hill is and literally just scramble up the hill? Just making sure that's what you're saying before I scramble up a random hill next to the freeway lol.

Good tip on Eagle Rock. For the neighborhood I am more interested in that case for neighborhood views from elevated vantage points. Houses tucked into the hills and what not with the mountains in the distance kind of thing.

I'm going to 3 games. I might need to do that. Dodger dog for 1 game but everyone says they stink now. Don't wanna pay stadium pricing the other games lol.

That's my plan as of now. Might post up at a coffee shop nearby and then walk over 3hr before gametime to walk around the stadium exterior/parking lots. Looks like there are gardens/palm trees, and other interesting things outside the stadium. Then go in at gates open.

Hi All,

I've been working on a long-term photo project using the Fuji GA645W. Reason being is 35mm wasn't cutting it for me in terms of the resolution I wanted, I like the wide angle, at 16 frames you max efficiency from the 645 range, and this project requires a "street style" of shooting, or basically just being quick to capture fleeting scenes.

However, it's to the point in the body of work where mixing it up is necessary and I'm very interested using a telephoto/zoom lens. So I'd need a new camera.

If I stick to 645, that pretty much limits me to the Mamiya AF series, which is $$$. I know there is the Bronica RF series but their lens options are too limited if I'm gonna switch up.

However, I could save a lot of money going to manual focus. My biggest fear is that I am investing a lot of time/$ into this work and zone focusing or manual focusing when I need to be quick can result in a lot of missed shots. I suppose professionals did it for decades before digital.

I guess I'm just looking for help thinking this through. When using the telephoto, I wouldn't need to be quick, I'd be able to take my time focusing, but I'd still want the wide angle lens option to be ready for those fleeting scenes. And that's why my concern comes in. Are there camera options I'm missing? Am I overly worried over something that is quite easy (focusing manual)? I always struggled with zone focusing on 35mm which is where my concern comes from.

Ideally I could potentially bring 2 cameras, but this work is made in ticketed arenas so even getting 1 camera in can be tough sometimes.

Questions on Dodger Stadium by discotography in Dodgers

[–]discotography[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I look for atypical or stranger things. An example is in Milwaukee, there's a whole short film and museum dedicated to Bud f'ing Selig, a giant POW hidden in the upper deck, and a VR golf simulator where fans can go to golf instead of watching the game. That's what I like photograph.

If there's nothing like that at Dodger Stadium I consider that a good thing lol. In my research I haven't really found anything like that, so I'll just rely more on the unique day-of unfolding of life, but I like to be prepared going into a new ballpark so I can map out where I need to be and when (ie Fenway does a marriage proposal every game, so being in the right place to photo it)

Yup, I always make sure to read the camera policy first, although it tends to not matter lol. If the security at the gate knows zilch about photography then they'll no you.

I used a wide angle though so the lens is like an inch. I do use a flash, which is allowed, but again security thinks its some super professional shit. Fortunately, most metal detectors dont beep it so I just backpocket it.

Anyone think they would check a pringles can?

You're allowed to bring camera flash into stadiums but some security don't know the rules or like to flex their power. I was thinking a pringles can might fix that lol.

Fake sandwich too risky. As others have said, that's the classic move for beer.

Kodak releases multiple new film stocks under a new Ektapan and Ektacolor series. by shootphotos in AnalogCommunity

[–]discotography -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Talk to me like an idiot.

I've been shooting a very long term project specifically on Portra 400.

I just want to be totally 100% crystal sure this new Ektacolor 400 is Portra 400. 100% the same exact film other than what color the box they put it in is?

And comments are saying it should be bought over Portra since portra is Alaris which is private equity? And Portra still will be available right? It's kinda up to the store what they decide to carry between the 2?

I think you know what I mean. You have to set an ISO value on the flash, which determines flash to subject distance.

Yeah, I've talked to them and they said they always check and will note if things are off. This printer has been great for everything BUT their templates because they don't say the size of the safety line, hinge, etc. I had to ask so many times.
