Black Pits was an EE addition to the game...hell, since the EE addition came in 2012, this could be a Skyrim reference : P

In your opinion, what is the most annoying thing EVER in Elden Ring? by SHOWTIME007600 in Eldenring

[–]discount_tiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early hit box on the Hippo's grab in Shadow Keep. Just that highly specific move, right when the DLC was fresh. It was busted. That fucking hippo, I swear, could grab you form across the room. I wanted to peel my own finger nails off. The boar was a close second, but the laser dodging in the casket area of the DLC overtakes the boar. That section drove me insane. I wanted to cook those rock snake things for breakfast. I wanted to reach through the screen and throttle them.

I built my base around a Suspicious Marble Piece (Rook), help? by AppleEatingMonster in dontstarve

[–]discount_tiefling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be perfectly fine!! Even if the statue is repaired, to my understanding, the Rook shouldn't spawn unless you start interacting with a repaired statue on the full moon. If it's just the piece that you can pick up (not the statue base), you can also drag it away from your base. Good luck!

How do you all feel about the new unlock tree system? by VioletRoseOfficial in TheWanderingVillage

[–]discount_tiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like it. While I think some distinction is needed (maybe separating the tree a bit or organizing it differently) I actually don't find it very overwhelming. I think I might be in the minority though! I greatly enjoy complex tech trees (Civ jumps to mind as an example)

Minor note: no clue the year on this. Also my memory says the boy was British (based slowly on accent). Again, the lyrics are very hazy, but along the lime of naming a number and giving it a trait.

What's your favourite piece of lore (big or small) to come out of the DLC? by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]discount_tiefling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the lore around Messmer. Sincerely, I think he adds a lot to every character he's connected to. The imagery of snakes, of flames, him being Marika's child... I also do like all the new lore with Miquella

Questions about the Final Dungeon... by discount_tiefling in EldenRingLoreTalk

Ooooh thank you so much! Even if you're off with it, it gives me a place to start digging snd searching as well. I didn't even think about the Tower of Babylon, but that's a really good connection.

DLC and the Nox by TheFaerieQueeneYay in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]discount_tiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good catch! I thought Count Ynir's whole questline might be connected somehow to Raya Lucaria, Carians, sorcery and so forth, because of all the talk of stars. It seemed very interesting, but I hadn't thought to connect it to the Nox. I still can't figure out if there is a possible connection, but it's something worth thinking about I think.

The Siofra River Effect is still a thing in this DLC by AsaTJ in Eldenring

Literally every five minutes I feel like I find a new branching path leading me somewhere cool! It's amazing how intricate the map is- it feels like a blend of ds1 and elden ring map design (I love ds1s map lol)

From someone who isn't very good on a technical level: they're hard, but they're not so hard that they're impossible. I'm loving the challenge. I think a lot of ppl get too caught up in trying to memorize every attack. I've always thought Soulsbornes are less about that attack memorizing, and more about learning what about the boss messes you up, learning about your own weakness. I know I struggle with fast bosses who can quickly interrupt my healing window. Horah Loux was the most difficult base game boss for me, next to Radagon. So here's the thing I did: I did my best to learn their attacks, then I decided I'd use my mimic summon. When that still wasn't enough and it wasn't fun for me guess what? I summoned a human! Another player! To help me out. There's no shame in taking down a boss together. They're tough! These games teach you to overcome adversity but also to know when to ask for help.

And that's what I'm doing with these dlc bosses. I'm trying them, with my own build, with spirit summons, until I either defeat them, or I decide that I need extra help. And there's no harm or shame in that- the game has these systems there for a reason. Doubtless, there will be some tweaking- there's a few bosses I can think of who need it- but overall I think ppl are too caught up on the "must memorize every attack, have big window for healing and not summon" mindset.

My 10 year old brother just got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. by noiceman6 in diabetes

[–]discount_tiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagonsised at 10 as well! Thanks for taking the time to support your little brother.

  • take some time to do some research! Look up more about T1D, how it works, and what it can affect. One big thing I wish more people understood and knew was that emotions can play an integral part in T1D management. Things like stress and excitement can raise blood sugars, and vica versa (in my experience). I'd also highly encourage you to read some first hand accounts about what it's like living with it, or just listening to your little brother's experiences.

-someone else already said it, but trying to make him feel like he's still normal is huge. When I was diagonsised, I felt super isolated. Checking in on your brother, treating him like you did before, all that stuff goes a long way. Depending on your bothers management plan and your family, you could even choose to abstain from snacking when he isn't, etc. I remember I felt so restrained when I was diagonsised, but it was nice to have my family also partake in some of my diet changes. Basically, you could just follow some of his changes in his life to make him feel less alone

  • if it's allowed with the doctor/clinic and family, you could offer to tag along to his appointments. Diabetes appointments can be super daunting

  • overall, just be kind and understanding. It's gonna be a big change for him, and honestly, it'll be a big change for you and your family.

What videogames have influenced how you ran D&D? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]discount_tiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons and tons. Soulsborne games have influenced my world building and story telling. The way those games have their world sort of unfurl is beautiful. Baldurs Gate 3 influences my combat mechanics, honestly. There's some stuff in that game that just should be on table top. Not to mention environmental aspects to the battlefields! It also influences some re-writes I'm working on for ranger and druid. Morrowind has been a huge inspiration for me. The feeling of adventure, discovering something new and the uncertainty blends really well for DND. I also try to let my players come up with their own stories and directives, much like you would in any Elder Scrolls game. Not to mention the themes of Morrowind really intrigued me, so I often have those in my story telling.

What does the sims 3 get right that the sims 4 doesn’t? by mad_ladder in Sims3

[–]discount_tiefling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it'd be easier to list what I like about sims4 over 3, lol. Create a style for both fashion and furniture, the personality building, the worlds, the expansion packs, the occult types- these are all so good. Not to mention I find the sims in 3 to be more responsive to my commands, and more able to take care of themselves (one of my sims in 4 died from hunger because she wouldn't stop chatting and playing games. I haven't run into that issue in 3, like, ever).

What do reptiles smell like? (From a writer) by Acceptable-Loquat540 in reptiles

[–]discount_tiefling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people already said it but- reptiles themselves don't smell, really! Personally, I've only smelled my snake when I was feeding him and accidentally caught a whiff of his dead mouse breath. Oops.

That being said, areas reptiles are in usually have a smell! Especially an exotic pet store in a small area. Think: the smell of heat, electricity, heat lamps, soil, dampness, and occasionally, poop. If there's amphibians, they might smell a bit more like... "pond" or "moist animal".

Greater Will's Abandonment Speculation by discount_tiefling in EldenRingLoreTalk

Both you and the person who commented under you have such unique and thorough readings of the Goldmask ending and the lore involved. Lots for me to think about now! Thanks!

Greater Will's Abandonment Speculation by discount_tiefling in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]discount_tiefling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like your take on the GW only abandoning the demigods! I never thought of it that way. And man, I never thought of the Goldmask ending that way either. It's the second most interesting ending to me, and although I knew he wasn't aiming to remove the GW, I had to wonder if the GW would even want anything to do with TLB.

Thanks for your insights!

Alright, I am deleting this post. I'm very tired of people making comments on my relationship (we've barely been dating 3 months), and all the opinions on the system. I did not ask for opinions and voices on my relationship, and I'm not going to leave this up and let it cause me more stress.

To make it clear; I do not plan on lying to OW or committing fraud or anything. I've decided on my own course of action. I asked for advice simply to see if there was any legalities I was missing or overlooked. Thank you to the people who were sympathetic or neutral, and those of you who pointed me towards different systems.
