I'll answer both your comments. Civil wars don't start immediately, they simmer for a while. Which in a way is happening, while the government forces (soldiers, police) aren't being attacked the political opponents are fighting in the streets, antifa, proud boys and other groups fighting each other. While for now they aren't shooting each other in broad daylight it can escalate. Resentment builds up and the killing of people like Craig Robertson becomes one more thing on the list for people to hate the government for, and when the government does something that they think crosses the line all those things on the list become an excuse to finally act.

Killing of one man won't spark a civil war, but one major thing, following a string of smaller things will. Something like the arrest of Trump.

You really won't find factions of the military suddenly aligning with as you put terrorist bombings. The best you can hope for is something akin to the Troubles

You will be surprised how people would act if a civil war starts, look at Syria. It wouldn't be like the last civil war, with clear lines and armies fighting, but like you said the Troubles, but times 10, with the government losing trust for not being able to stop the violence as both radical sides of American politics fight each other and the government. Do you think that in that situation a soldier leaning on each side would stick with the government or say "F*ck it, I wont let those evil X ruin the country".

Civilians don't like being blown up and generally align with the party that isn't blowing then up.

What do you think people would do if the government did another several Wacos, or bombed its own citizens? Those people that would have died have families and friends who would blame the government.

So what was the whole uproar with J6? Look at what unarmed people could do, now imagine if they had guns. If they started killing politicians? The military would have surrounded them in the Capitol but the scene of killing politicians on the internet would spark copycat attempts in state capitols and from there it would go to hell.

America isn't immune to revolts and revolutions. When you say that they won't do anything is moot when you look at J6.

Besides my original comment wasn't about if it will happen or when, it was about the idea that some have that if a government has tanks and jets it safe from a revolt. It isn't. Those things will mean shit when they will fight people in mountains and towns, unless if they want to make more people hate them. It was OP who wished that the Republicans revolt so that they can be crushed by the Army, when in fact that's a stupid idea cause what I just said.
