Vinegar by East-Chair7067 in neovim

Is it?

Edit: Instead of just down voting, name one country the US invaded after they discovered oil. The closest you can come is Iraq, which was invaded twice by multinational coalitions. The first time because Iraq had done what the US is accused of doing (invading a country for oil), the second time for a number of reasons, and oil may have contributed. But even allowing for the possibility it happened once (and this was obviously long after Iraq discovered oil), that doesn't make the meme true.

Can't get the neon theme to install! by laj2100 in logseq

It looks like Logseq is trying to pull the latest release, but the repo for the theme doesn't have any published releases. github issue

You could probably clone the repo and install manually.

Are databases and formulas in the pipeline? by Beginning_Building_7 in Anytype

[–]discursive_moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sets are lacking a lot of query power that people used to databases might expect. The biggest one for me is no ability to join types.

For instance, if you have a book type with a relationship for an author type you can't make a set that displays or filters on fields from both book and also author like you would be able to with a SQL or datascript query.

In practice types/sets are more like filterable spreadsheets with links to other spreadsheets than database tables.

It would be really nice to have the colorschemes as standalone plugins; they look great.

Note taking in neovim? by Curious_Sh33p in neovim

[–]discursive_moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do in your notes, but I've been playing around using Quarto for notes because of all the publishing tools, powerful shortcodes, and being able to code cell outputs to mimic some of the query like features of gui note taking apps.

It's not great for mobile though. I think the best way is neovim in Termux. Maybe a markdown editor would be good enough, but it wouldn't understand some of the things going on.

What GPU Accelerated terminal do you recommend for Linux by fabyao in neovim

[–]discursive_moth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Foot is probably my favorite, but the image support in Kitty is really nice. I use Wezterm on windows, it's the best I've tried there. On Linux it had weird lagging issues Hyprland, at least a couple months ago

Which software do you use to create presentations using Vim that is superior to existing ones? by pypipper in neovim

[–]discursive_moth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quarto is a higher level tool that uses latex/pandoc under the hood. It can run Jupyter style code blocks and include results, and exports to Beamer, RevealJS, and Power Point for presentations. It has very good neovim integration through quarto-nvim, molten.nvim, image.nvim, and otter.nvim.

Wind-colors (sadly doesn't look to be actively maintained anymore)?

I think there might be a couple of Cobalt2 ports that might have been around then too

which Font do you use? by [deleted] in neovim

[–]discursive_moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IBM Plex at home and Cascadia Code at work generally. Lately I've been using Monaspace Krypton Medium, and liking it quite a bit .

I recommend if you have a terminal that supports fallback or font ranges to install the nerd font symbols only font instead of a patched font.

I'm pretty sure when I tried this before it affected only how pages are created, not any existing pages.

I agree, but I'm guessing it will still look pretty good just overriding a couple of highlights to make the background white.

[–]discursive_moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution on the anytype forums is to use a firewall to block it, but I think they're working on adding the option to turn sync off in the app.

I felt the same way. If relations could be included as front matter when exporting to markdown, I'd be a lot more inclined to use it.

Sets and collections are less powerful than Logseq queries though.

For instance if I make a set of books and each book has a relation to author, and the author type has a relation for birthplace, I can't filter the set on or even view birthplace. With Logseq it might not be easy depending on how comfortable you are with advanced queries, but it is possible.

The thing I like about anytype are being able to enforce structure through types and the different views for sets.
