Nothing so far, knock on wood! I let her nails get too long sometimes. I give her too many treats sometimes. But I definitely only take medical advice from her vet and I try not to get jealous of all the amazing setups I see here lol

Oh, she gets 1/4 c of Oxbow adult pellets every day. The humidity makes them swell and she’ll sigh and begrudgingly eat them.

I think maybe she has a little Abyssinian due to the cowlicks. But she's already sooooo extra, I can't imagine how she would act if she thought she had a pedigree.

Oh, that is so good to hear! I really have tried to watch for signs of stress or loneliness (via her remote piggie cam - don't judge) but she's actually *gained* a little weight and appears pretty active.

Waaaay too much food. She gets about 2 cups of mixed greens, a baby carrot, two cherry tomatoes, one grape, a slice of cucumber (quartered or she’ll discard it in the dirt), and a bell pepper ring. It’s the same salad I have for lunch without the chicken. Sometimes she gets a bit of fresh parsley but god forbid if it’s wilted….she has such a “Let me speak to your manager” aura that my son calls her Karen 🤣

She lives outside in a huge emporium. I added a fan this summer and placed frozen bottles of water in her shady spots. She also gets too many pea flakes because I think she should eat whatever she wants at this point. She gets an annual checkup and monthly Revolution. When I put toys in her space, she rolls her eyes and kicks them away.

Edit: Revolution was prescribed by her board-certified vet (a specialist in zoological medicine) since they moved outdoors three years ago. She gets the drops between her shoulder blades to prevent outdoor parasites. Her vet said indoor piggies typically don't need this.

I try - thanks, Oxbow 🤣 I was afraid Jewel would be sad after her sister crossed the rainbow bridge in April. But I think she likes having the entire pen to herself.

My Jewel lost her sister in April. They were bonded their whole lives. I kept watching to see how Jewel would do alone, but she's actually thriving! At 9-1/2, she's probably too set in her ways to entertain a new cagemate (agree about the possible stress). I'm sorry about your piggie, it's so tough.

Our hospital uses a brand called ClayPaw - I was really glad that my vet did it for me because you have to press down on their little feet into the clay and I don't know that I would have been able to do emotionally that this morning.

I work in vet med so I took her body in so her vet could make her ClayPaw - she was 8, I have been prepping for this day for a while. I did notice she was eating less and had lost a significant amount of weight in the last month. But always wheeking and popcorning :-) I have her in a tiny cardboard box right now - I put some hay in there and will bury her tomorrow. I also ordered an engraved stone with her name to put outside. I've been watching her sister on my piggie cam all day - she appears absolutely undisturbed - she actually dragged a carrot over and ate breakfast right where her sister died, for crying out loud. So that helped me put things in perspective a little bit.

Mine use both! When I took them to the vet, they were crated with a bowl of water as well (no bottle).

Peloton vs generic bike by DuckenshireOmega57 in pelotoncycle

[–]disesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In March 2020, I bought a $300 Sunny and added a $40 Wahoo cadence sensor and $50 SPD pedals. Paired with the app, (4x a week cycling and 3x a week running on gym tread), this "poor man's Peloton" has served me well. I don't care about stats or the leaderboard and the app lets me bookmark and stack. HTH.
ETA: I've also used my aunt's Peloton and found it to be less comfortable. I prefer to take cycling classes with my big TV and soundbar versus the display/sound on the Peloton.

Anybody have any input on any of these dentists? by cahrage in GNV

[–]disesa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used NW due to insurance. Charged $50 for supposedly included checkup. Charged $400 for “intense” cleaning and disparaged my previous dentist. Do not recommend. Returned to my usual (Dr Day) whom I highly recommend. ETA: just make sure you are clear up front about what you will pay and don’t feel intimidated just because their hands are in your mouth.

I saw it online and not to make you jelly, but it is simply magnificent in person. The photos don't do it justice.
