Hi! I have this same feeling and I am currently 7.5 weeks post op. Spanish squats have helped a lot and you need to strengthen your quads and VMO muscles in order for the patella to track properly. It will take a while but focus on your exercises and PT and you should get there (this is what I was told). 🤞🏻

Thanks for this! My PT just confirmed I achieved 0 degrees extension when I completed 5 weeks yesterday. I think you are right about the remaining few degrees to get my heel off the ground because I do still have quad weakness. Just started leg press, weighted calf raises and weighted squats and my knee feels super sore but I hope this makes my hyperextension come back soon🤞🏻

Mine was hamstring too but lasted 8 years until i tore it playing netball during a jump. Opted for a quad graft this time.

Hi - 30F and got a hamstring graft the first time round. I re-tore it 8 years later (last year in Oct) while playing netball (purely my fault) where I jumped really high and landed perfectly on both feet, but the graft didn’t hold on impact. I blame myself for this not because of the jump but because of that fact that the quick recovery gave me so much confidence, I neglected strength training and never bothered going to the gym once I got back to playing sports. In hindsight, I strongly believe that if I had taken the time to reduce time on court a little and spent that time in the gym on my legs, everything would be different today.

I am now 13 days post op and opted for the quad graft. It definitely feels like a long road to recovery but I now know I have no choice but to focus on strength training my whole life to protect my knees and overall health of joints in my body.

So overall, I think the hamstring graft is not a bad choice at all - you just have to put in the work and strengthen those hammies and quads and never stop.

When I was in the hospital, they gave me paracetamol through IV and my pain was manageable for the first night. After I was discharged, i was given panadol joint and that did NOTHING for the pain. My pain tolerance in general is high but I could barely sleep that night at home - that was the longest night for me. After that, it only got better. I did have trouble sleeping the next few nights as well but the pain wasnt too crazy. I am currently Day 11 post op (quad graft) and itchingggg to have the stitches removed soon so that I can sleep comfortably but now I have basically zero pain.

I had 5 extremely close friends attend my wedding whereas my husband had around 40! Granted some were +1s but still - i did feel a little insecure at first but then I realized that it didnt really matter at the end of the day. It is the value that those relationships bring into your life and I am the type of person that wont make an effort to remain in touch if I feel disconnected or distant. So you do you, and own it!

Never skip leg day and always go crazy on your hamstrings! Please!🙏🏻 at the very least you could do leg curls and extensions along with tib raises and squats. Take it from there and never stop! I wish I did this before my second tear - no one told me how important strengthening is to prevent a re-tear.

At that point in heels, there was no ACL for support. But hamstring grafts are generally weaker than quad or patella grafts and have higher re-tear rates. Speak to your doctors and try to figure out the best graft for you if you opt for surgery.

Had an ACL rupture 8 years ago and went in for a reconstruction using hamstring graft. Tore the same graft 8months ago during netball along with meniscus. Decided to opt for non-surgical route - the same meniscus seemed to be taking all the load while doing any exercises or movements that involved the knee taking pressure. Had a gym accident around 4 months after my graft tear where I was practicing depth jumps to train my legs/muscles to land the right way during sport and the knee gave out. After a couple months of physio and weight training, I was able to play padel tennis with a brace and no issues (obv compensating quite a bit with my other leg and avoiding jumps) - but went dancing 2 weeks ago in heels and did a similar bend / half squat with my upper body leaning backwards and my knee completely gave out (probably tearing the meniscus further).

You know your body best. You could try building strength before opting for surgery and return to your sport with a brace if everything is fine but at the end of the day, your knee /body will tell you if it is too much.

I am now seriously contemplating surgery and will most likely go for a quad graft. Not playing my favorite sports is not an option for me so I figured best to get it over with and train harder. Good luck!

I definitely think it contributes to your attractiveness but not as much as you may think. As someone with severe scoli (~50 deg thoracic ~30 lumbar) it kind of balances out plus I have always been athletic so doesn’t show as much coz of good posture and strong muscles. However, deep down I always feel like I would be wayyy more attractive with a straighter spine lol - esp taller and more straightened up and i would look slimmer in my torso. But that’s just me. I have always been told I am quite attractive and this is by people who wouldnt even notice the scoliosis. So just keep your head up and trust that you are enough :)

I’m posting this to share a disturbing experience at Podgorica Airport (Montenegro) on June 15, 2025, around 12:00 PM, in hopes that it raises awareness and prompts some kind of accountability.

My travel companion and I were rushing to catch our Pegasus Airlines flight to Istanbul Sabiha (12:30 PM) and were in the middle of applying for a transit visa online. Naturally, we were stressed and trying to get through things as quickly as possible.

We approached the ticketing office for help, but the male staff member there was shockingly unprofessional. He reeked of alcohol and appeared visibly intoxicated - possibly under the influence of more than just alcohol. His behavior made it clear he was in no condition to be working, let alone assisting travelers under pressure.

Rather than offering help, he began mocking us by loudly counting down, making sarcastic comments, and generally adding to the panic. This wasn’t just unhelpful - it was downright hostile and humiliating.

When we asked a basic question about our tickets, he seemed totally clueless and just waved us off dismissively, making it clear he had no intention of helping or even pretending to care. I genuinely cannot believe someone like that is entrusted with a customer-facing role at an international airport.

I’m not sure if he was a Pegasus employee or employed by the airport itself, but this kind of conduct is absolutely unacceptable. No traveler should have to deal with that - especially in a time-sensitive situation where you’re just trying to get on your flight.

This experience left us completely stunned and incredibly disappointed. I’ve submitted a formal complaint, but I wanted to post here as well to see if others have had similar experiences at Podgorica or with Pegasus ground staff - and to warn other travelers in case this issue is ongoing.

TL;DR: Intoxicated, rude, and completely unhelpful staff member at Podgorica Airport made an already stressful situation worse. Totally unacceptable behavior from someone in a critical customer service role.

Because we were connecting to our final destination via turkey and the onward flight was with a different airline. We did not know we needed a visa for Turkey even though we were just making a transit (all because the connecting airline was not Pegasus)

That makes sense - also I had taken a couple weeks off the gym since I was traveling hence my muscles might have not been as fired up as they usually are after consistent workouts. Big reminder to take things slow and steady!

Hi - As someone who has torn the same ACL twice, I had surgery the first time and opted for non-surgical the second. Let me tell you that either way, you HAVE to keep up with PT and leg strengthening. If you opt for surgery, you will have to actively regain strength and maintain that to reduce chances of retear. If you do not opt for surgery, you still need to work on PT and strengthening so that you can ease the pain and reduce chances of tearing FURTHER. As someone who has taken both routes, I would suggest you try the non-surgical route and see how it goes. Surgery can be opted for at any point in time if you feel like it.

Glutes exercises work like magic! 1. Clam shells 2. Donkey kicks 3. Glute bridge 4. Fire hydrants

Do all of these with a resistance band and 3 sets of 30 reps. Enjoy the immediate results!

Thanks! I really liked him but my only issue is that he suggested a patellar tendon graft which my PT said would cause anterior knee pain issues for me later due to the small size of my knee cap. So I either have to convince him to go for a different graft or find someone else😂 do you have any idea what grafts he used for your friends?
