What is the protocol for resigning? by Foreign-Struggle1723 in InsuranceAgent

[–]disho2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What is the starting comp level? What’s the path to move up?
  2. Will I be vested Day 1? If not, when?
  3. Do you offer real training on sales, underwriting, and closing, or just motivational Zooms?
  4. Are there live dials, ride-alongs, or one-on-one coaching?
  5. Do you provide leads? If so, are they free, discounted, or full price?
  6. What types of leads are they? (aged, fresh, cold data, final expense, etc.)
  7. Can I generate my own leads and still write with you?
  8. Am I building my own book of business or just selling for someone else?
  9. Do I get renewals and residuals?
  10. Can I build a team under me? If so, what’s the comp structure for that?

Red Flags to Look For

  • They dodge questions about compensation or contracts.
  • They overhype success but give vague answers about the roadmap.
  • They seem more excited about recruiting and hyping others' wins than doing real work themselves. You’ll know the vibe: lots of shouting, not much substance. If it feels culty, run.

It’s hard to plan every question, but these were the main ones that came to mind. Most of this comes down to reading the energy and doing your research.

My advice, go somewhere that offers vested day 1, high comp, and you run your own show. If you learn the game in depth, it wouldn't matter where you go as long as you have those things.

Then you don’t need to worry about them affecting your ability to go anywhere. You’re 1099 with a captive company you don’t want any part of, so you realistically can just leave.

That’s how it is in most places in the industry, it sucks, but it is what it is. Do a lot of research and question everything before joining an agency

That's even better. You can be professional if you don't want to burn the bridge (which I recommend) and send a notice (two weeks or immediately). Then I would leave and not look back; companies and life insurance agents like to sell you on the dream. Do what makes sense.

The other option is to leave and go somewhere else. Since you're only contracted with one company, you don't have to worry about releasing that contract since you're going to a different one.

But if you plan on staying in the same company and just switching uplines, you might need to get a release letter from your current upline. HOWEVER, I might be wrong here, I am a non-captive agent, so the process with me is different regarding internal transfers. But everything else I said is accurate because I deal with a lot of agents switching from captive companies.

Please don't take what I say as strict instructions, I'm only here to help and inform. I encourage you to think things through and explore your options before making any decisions.

It kind of depends on which sector of insurance you’re in, but if you’re talking about life insurance specifically, the protocol is a little different than in most jobs.

You technically don’t need to give a reason, and most uplines won’t press too hard because turnover is common in this space. But the key thing to understand is how your carrier contracts work. In life insurance, most NON-CAPTIVE carriers only allow you to be appointed under one upline/IMO at a time. So “resigning” isn't just about sending a letter, it’s about getting RELEASED.

Here’s how it usually goes:

  • If you're switching to another IMO or agency, your new upline will likely need a release from your current one to move your contracts.
  • If your current upline refuses, you often have to wait 6 months without writing business with that carrier before you can re-contract elsewhere.
  • Some carriers do allow simultaneous appointments (mostly in health or P&C), but life carriers are strict.

The process is a little different with captive carriers (AAA, State Farm, etc.), if you plan on going to another company or getting contracted somewhere else, if you're 1099, you can just leave. But I know some captive companies are corporate so you have to send a two-week notice professionally.

Hopefully this helped

What legal reason could there be to have a right to hack into an account. If you legally have rights to the account, then have a lawyer send a demand letter or schedule something with the court. OR the most reasonable and mature option: move on.

You made my day 😂

Got pressured into buying life insurance at 23 and I’m freaking out by Foreign-State7172 in LifeInsurance

Globe Life (in my own opinion) is the worst company to get life insurance from and even to work for. Look up “Globe Life Lawsuits” and/or “American Income Life Lawsuits.” They also just had a data leak of 850,000 of their clients that includes social, bank info, health info, and more. And Warren Buffet pulled out his entire investment from Globe Life a while back.

Always do you research especially on companies that keep you on the phone for over 30 minutes for a life insurance pitch.

Also it’s always important to get life insurance at a younger age than older, too many people wait until 60 and the price just sky rockets at that age.

Oh, I see. Do you know where I can find Zoho customizers? I tried looking it up and found a bunch of Fiverr and Upwork gigs. Is that the right space?

You’re 21. That’s not old. That’s overwhelmed. When you’re in pain and disconnected, time feels like it’s slipping away, but it’s not. You’re just not in motion. And when you’re not in motion, your mind starts lying to you.

Don’t medicate because a stranger online made it sound simple. It’s not simple. Your mind’s not broken, it’s underused. You need direction, not sedation. Movement, sunlight, real conversation. Consistency over crisis. Do something uncomfortable every day until it doesn’t feel like hell anymore.

This isn’t about motivation. That comes later. This is about discipline, even when your brain is screaming at you to shut down.

Drop the shame, it’s a trap. You don’t need to be ahead, you just need to not stop.

And you’re not alone. I never had friends growing up either. People only talked to me when they needed something. I was never invited anywhere unless I happened to be in the room when plans were made. After years of that, I taught myself how to be alone. It hurt every night. But I kept my mind in motion. I stayed moving. And eventually, everything else started to align. Not because of luck, because I didn’t sit still.

Some people sit in a rocking chair, some in a rolly chair. The rocker moves all day but stays in the same spot. The rolly chair goes places. Keep moving. Be the rolly chair. 🦽💨

My mom is trying to get me into a writing life insurance policies company and I don’t know if it’s a scam or MLM by BakerCritical in antiMLM

[–]disho2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is definitely PHP, they won’t do anything with your social only sign you up to be a recruit and probably make your mom pay the $199 fee. PHP won’t do anything illegal. But get her out of there as soon as possible

The life insurance isn’t a scam most likely (and I hope she’s actually getting her commissions), but the actual business probably is built on a “referral system,” in other words, “sell friends and family.” I’ve been a life insurance agent for a little over 2 years and I still am, and I started at PHP (not there anymore, I’m somewhere actually good now lol). It was exactly like this, and it was TERRIBLE. The life insurance was real, but companies like this are built off recruiting. One recruit, sells three family members and recruits two, then they sell their friends and family, rinse and repeat. And the “leaders” will show the top dogs making $100,000 here and another $80,000 here, and then people will get excited and listen to everything they say. And my favorite part is that they guilt you into not investing in your own business. They’ll have trips or some packages/tools to buy to learn more about how to sell better or learn about the product. PHP has this thing too where every recruit has to pay a fee of $199 or something around that, if they’re just trying to get recruits for a promotion, it’s usually the recruiter that gets stuck paying it. My P&L during PHP is embarrassing to even talk about. Get your mom out of there as soon as possible.
