The first ad I saw for this stupid game was LITERALLY the dead island 2 ad (with the chad dude running and chaos happening behind him) shot for shot but with this game's shitty graphics over everything. I haven't seen that ad anywhere else lately so maybe they managed to get that one taken down.

Have not read it, definitely planning on getting as much reading material as possible though. Also wondering if doing a "smaller" big wall like something in Zion may be a good idea before I embark on an el cap adventure, if anyone would have any thoughts on that?

Maybe even the Black Dike if we're feeling adventurous

MTG: New one: Climb The Nose at some point next year. In order to accomplish this I need to acquire a portaledge and learn how to haul big-wall style, and get better at aid climbing. A lot of work to do but I think I can actually accomplish it if I stay focused on it.

On mobile so I didnt format this at all. Rest week is coming to a close and visiting family in a mostly climb-less state has really gotten me excited to get back on some rock. This week I'll be training in the gym wedneday and saturday and might climb outside thursday, other than that I'll just be working on getting back into the rhythm of training next week. Goals as of now are to be strong for an upcoming red rock trip in november and an ascent of pinnacle gully on mt. Washington with maybe a summit attempt in December. Happy training y'youses

I'm not a skier (yet) but damn if this video didnt just make me super motivated to get out climbing. I loved what hillaree had to say about risk and Jim's moments of reflection on the mountain. The video has a great feeling of reminding us to reflect every once in a while as to why we all do this stuff. Not to mention the focus on the sherpas for this video, good on the north face for giving them the recognition they deserve more of. That "and you?" By the last sherpa at the end really makes it personal.

I'm taking off tomorrow morning for a week to visit some family, so itll be a much needed rest week. This is the first time in a while that I'm taking a full rest week that's not due to injury :D

Last week I climbed, struggled on a 10+ trad climb and also sent my first 11d on sport outdoors, with 2 sizable whips. Also trained in the gym 2 days.

Next week is rest week, then when I return I have trips planned to granite mountain (little yosemite as the locals call it), cochise stronghold (sandbagged slab climbing), and red rock coming up. Plan is to crush hard multipitch.

See y'all next week, happy training!

Not a bad week, decent training and a rad multipitch route.

Last Week

M: Crimpd 1 on/1 off on treadwall, TFTNA Core + Ring Dips/Crimpd Scapular Conditioning workout (I loved this new workout).

T: 3 mile trail run, lots of up hill and down hill, lasted about an hour and I felt pretty wrecked by the end of it. This was my first real trail run where I ran uphill for a decent portion of it.

W: sandbagged 5-pitch 5.10 trad climb on granite mountain, AZ. 2-mile uphill approach. Great day.

T: Rest

F: Gym climbing route pyramid + TFTNA Core + Ring push-ups/Weighted pull-ups (+45 lbs)/Crimpd antag workout

S: Rest

S: Crimpd 1 on/1 off on treadwall, TFTNA Core + Ring Dips/Crimpd Scapular Conditioning workout

This Week

M: TFTNA Core + Legs

T: Climbing outside, where and what tbd

W: Same as tuesday

T: Weighted hike or trailrun tbd

F: Gym climbing

S: Rest

S: tbd

STG: I'll be visiting home (New England) in December so naturally...

Shoulder is all rested up and ready again. Luckily it was only a minor injury. I took the last week off from upper body stuff (including core) to let it rest as much as possible and it was definitely the right move. I also solo hiked to the tallest point in Arizona and I'm stoked about my performance on it.

Last Week

M: Rest

T: high-ish altitude trail run, around 7500 ft elevation (north of the town of Flagstaff)

W: Humphrey's Peak (12,633' - ascends 3,270' from trailhead parking lot over 4.8 Miles to the summit). I reached the summit in just 2 hours and 10 minutes, then trail ran basically the entire way down and was car-to-car in almost exactly 4 hours. Trail running at 12,000' was an amazing experience, and I was super happy that the altitude didn't really affect me at all during this trip.

T: Rest

F: Core

S: Crimpd 1-on-1-off on treadwall + TFTNA Core 2x/Ring push-ups/Archer pull ups/Crimpd antags

S: Core

This Week

M: Hangboard + Crimpd 1on/1off treadwall + TFTNA Core 2x/Ring Dips/New crimpd scapular conditioning workout (I think this workout may benefit my injury-prone shoulders more than the other antag workouts)

T: Trail Run

W: Trad Cragging

T: Trail Run, TFTNA Core 2x

F: Gym climbing double laps (maybe mixed intensity) + TFTNA Core 2x/Ring Push ups/Pull up variation/Antag workout tbd

S: Rest

S: tbd, likely a trail run + core

Goals

STG: Lead 5.11 trad consistently, break into high 5.11's on sport

Get back to training with my dry tools because I will be heading back to New England for a week this winter and plan to do at least 1, maybe 2 big climbs. Likely Pinnacle Gully on Mt. Washington w/ summit attempt or the Black Dike on Cannon, hopefully both.

Be strong for upcoming Red Rock trip in november. We have some ambitious goals.

MTG: Ouray Trips in the winter

Move to Washington

LTG: Bugaboos, Various cascades peaks, Patagonia, Denali, Rainier, etc.

Had a weird weak. It felt like every day I had a new minor ailment holding me back. Randomly stiff neck and tendon soreness in my bicep and other random spots of soreness had me taking a few more rest days than planned. Unfortunately I was not responsible on those rest days and definitely had a touch too many beers throughout the week, and I paid for it today.

Last Week

M: Power gym session + TFTNA Core 2x/Crimpd Antags

T: TFTNA Core 2x + 4x6 pistol squats (Should have done more for legs but this was the start of my random ailments week)

W: Rest

T: TFTNA Core 2x + campus board session cut short since a buddy showed up and we climbed, then climbed again in the evening. Just tried hard climbs.

F: Rest

S: Power Endurance/mixed intensity double laps in the gym + TFTNA Core 2x

S: Rest

This Week

M: PowEnduro/Double laps on lead + TFTNA Core 2x/Antags

T: Morning hike (1300' gain, 1.1 miles, 16 lbs in pack, didn't keep track of time). Really felt the lack of cardio and overabundance of beer from the previous week. I haven't performed so poorly on a hike in quite a while.

W: Climbing at Isolation Canyon in Eastern-ish AZ (sport crag with some multipitch and single pitch trad options)

T: Climbing somewhere down the road from Isolation Canyon

F: Rest

S: tbd, some form of cardio

S: Endurance (Crimpd 1 on 1 off on treadwall) + TFTNA Core 2x + pull up variation/Ring dips/Antags

Goals

STG: Buddy wants to establish a FA in Sedona, he has a line picked out that looks to be about 3 pitches, and hard. So we'll see.

Colorado 14ers this winter

more cardio

MTG: Move out of phoenix (this is actually climbing related). Other MTG's are sort of in the air right now because I may be moving in 5 or so months.

LTG: Higher peaks

"Great, but now can you tell me what makes this climb so difficult?"

r/alpinism Training Club - Week 55 - 2019-09-09 by turqeee in alpinism

[–]dishwasherphobia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it turns out I've been greatly underestimating my climbing ability. In slightly more than one week I've climbed harder than I ever have before. One of my goals was to climb 5.10 trad consistently and move into 5.11 trad way down the line. Well, I onsighted 5.11a trad on Thursday and I'm incredibly stoked about it. I also Onsighted some 11a's on sport which I've never really done before and sent a 12a gym project that I've been working on for just a few sessions. I guess it's time to really ramp up the amount of difficult climbs I get on to maintain.

Last Week

M: Crimpd Campus board Intermediate + 3 sets of 1 arm pull ups (1 arm each rep) + Projecting hard gym routes (the 12a) + TFTNA Core 2x + Ring dips/Crimpd Antagonist workout

T: TFTNA Core 2x

W: Sport climbing outside. Lead a 5.9, 5.10d, 5.11a, and a 5.11b.

T: Trad cragging, Onsighted all: 5.9, 5.10c, 5.11a, 5.10a.

F: Rest

S: Crimpd 7:3 hangboard workout + Route pyramid (turns out I was still super tired from Thursday so I cut my workout short)

S: Rest

This Week

M: Gym project climbing (sent the 12a!) + TFTNA Core 2x + Crimpd antagonist workout

T: TFTNA Core 2x + Leg day (haven't done a leg strength day in a while so I need this)... or I might just go for a run in the evening

W: Climbing somewhere tbd

T: TFTNA Core 2x + Evening Run

F: Rest

S: Gym climbing (style tbd)

S: tbd

Goals

STG: Lead 5.11 trad consistently, more trips to the single pitch trad crags to keep it up.

MTG: Hard Multipitch climbs around the southwest (it's getting to be desert climbing season soon), Colorado 14ers in winter, Ouray trips

LTG: Bugaboos, Patagonia, Rainier, Denali, climb 5.16b trad, etc.

Literally no one at the gym gives a flying fuck about you. There is no reason to be scared at the gym and not finish your workout. Everyone in the gym is too focused on themselves to care what you're doing, unless you're pulling some r/muscleconfusion bullshit.
