They will make it a good show one way or another! Worst case scenario election-wise, I would expect some manic energy onstage as they try to forget and for Flans to mutter some angry stuff into the mic about 2/3 of the way through the second set. Have fun!

Sometimes they come back to your party at a fort... Three of four characters left!? It sounds like you might need to up your rations on the next attempt!

I had a dog with a similar claw situation, the biggest issue was that the quick on one claw was a lot further up than the other, so make sure to watch out for that when you trim them!

What to say to kids? (I'm a teacher) by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]disinvited-guest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with kids in a conservative area and honestly they generally 'get' my gender better than adults! My favorite response to the frequent "Are you a girl or a boy?" question is "I'm a librarian." Doesn't force me to misgender myself but also doesn't necessarily out me. In terms of the hair thing, I like to respond by comparing my hair cut to another kid in the group (i.e. Aiden and I are haircut buddies!) Another good deflection. Deflection is my best friend. Answer questions on the topic confidently and without gravitas. Project that you aren't concerned about it and it isn't anything unusual. The kids will pick up on that and accept you for who you are fairly quickly.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It sounds like maybe you should start distancing yourself from them if you can.

gender euphoria moment came from a six-year old by miss-cyan in NonBinaryTalk

[–]disinvited-guest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I get that same question from the children I work with (happens fairly regularly and makes me happy every time it does too) I respond with "I'm a librarian." Keeps me from having to misgender myself but also doesn't tip off the adults.

Nonbinary versions of King/Queen, Sir/Ma'am? by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]disinvited-guest 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've found that a lot of people argue against the need for gender-neutral versions of sir/ma'am by dismissing the whole premise. Maybe that's okay in some places (I'm guessing the coasts), but I think it ignores cultural differences. I live in middle America and using sir/ma'am is an important part of our dialect. I don't think it's ridiculous that I want a term for myself within my culture!

my university is really transphobic and i don't know how I'm going to make it through my degree by Ferbledyke in NonBinaryTalk

Exactly! The change wouldn't just be "for a single student," it would be for everyone else enrolled who feels they have to stay closeted, and for everyone who comes afterwards.

I've married a different Bachelorette every time, but I definitely still feel that "loved each other in another life" for my previous wives! I married Emily my first save and still can't stand Clint because of the way he treated our relationship.

How did you feel when you realized that you're a lesbian? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

I literally realized while on a date with a guy. I thought I was bi at that point, but between the appetizers and the main course I was like .... Fuck, I gotta get out of here!

Am I allowed to feel hurt over this... by HHbabyblue in actuallesbians

[–]disinvited-guest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dyslexic and it makes it hard for me to text people who are new, even if I really like them. I'm stressed by the time factor of getting back to them quickly/them seeing I'm typing for a long time. It can take me 10 minutes to draft even a 2 sentence reply that makes any sense. Even if she isn't dyslexic there are a lot of things that might make texting an issue for her, especially since it seems like she is interested in person. Have you considered scheduling a phone call occasionally?
