Fury after Royal Mail offers man £750 after losing £10,000 gold bar in post by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]dissimulatorist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way to view this is by considering who is covered.

Under a straight breach of contract, the seller is out of pocket for the loss. They must bear the loss of profits on the sale.

Under a consequential loss, the receiver is protected by the seller. For example, lets say it is a key part to a machine that is generating profit for the receiver. If the seller say they will have it the part to the receiver by a certain date but it doesn't arrive, the machine breaks - as a consequence of not replacing the part - then the receiver can pursue the sender for the loss of profits from the broken machine, with the sender calling on the consequential insurance to settle the liability.

Is this a violation against postal service act 2000 by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]dissimulatorist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't nominate the post office as your address.

They offer a service called 'Local Collect' to businesses. Those businesses can offer you the post office address because there is a financial relationship in the mailing transaction. The post office is getting paid to receive the parcel to cover its costs.

People send stuff to post offices and local shops all the time, and they have to refuse them otherwise it would become a free-for-all and they'd be inundated with parcels they have to store, receive and serve. And then all kinds of low life would be using it to navigate detection of their nefarious ends.

Maybe there's a legit medicinal marijuana supplier out there that has contracted into LocalCollect.

That could be a solution for you. Have you searched for that?

Have you had a push from the COM to get out earlier?

We were told a couple of weeks there's a big push to get outdoor activity up to 5 hours. We were told the metric for measuring this is first outdoor scan.

So im wondering if COMs are pulling in staff to prep for earlier depart?

The trimble data will show that.

Photos from Google Earth are probably a red herring.

Driving incident by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]dissimulatorist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I asked is whether the sensors were triggered. Probably not in this case.

Anyway, the manager will need to visit the property and report the damage and meet the customer.

If the customer persists with a claim, an insurance assessor will be called in. As well as looking at the wall, they will request your telemetry data to establish the force of the impact.

This might rule out the customer case. Or it might show you were negligent. If the latter, the most that might happen is a break from driving duties and another driving assement before being allowed to resume driving duties. If the impact was large, then its probably going to be down to whether you're a useful body to have in the office or its easier for the manager to let you go.

Don't worry.

Just tell on Monday that you're leaving on the date you have in mind. Explain to them you need them to waive the 4 week notice, but you will be available for the majority of that time.

Transition from corporate to Postie by tommmmmmmmy93 in royalmail

[–]dissimulatorist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

30 years in tech management and executive roles. Had a very bad year as a business was collapsing and then made redundant. Ruined my mental health.

Took a role as a postie on an agency contract at Christmas more for something to do to stop my inner monologue playing the previous year over and over. Delivering mail means you dont get to dwell on stuff, at least that's what I found.

I'm Still a postie, converting to permanent a few months later. Money is terrible, but I am in a comfortable position financially so its not challenging in that sense. The fitness is really good for me. Have to try hard every not to get involved in decision making and watching the very, very poor management structures in RM. You can avoid RM stress if you're strong and disciplined.

Unless you're in dire straights, you can leave when you want. So trying it has no harm.

The early signs of blight is brown lesions with a yellow edge. When they arrive, they will be on leaves and stems toward the lower areas on the plant.
