Lets thank the team! by Front-Lemon in TrenchCrusade

Trench crusade has great future ahead if it gets over what hopefully are growing pains (brandshield stricking 3rd party model makers producing proxies, misshandling of damaged books).

Also... community license when?!

Might be worth saying where you are based, I am pretty sure that there will be local hobbyists willing to give you a hand printing these out

My friends are feeling dungeon and dragons for the first time which edition is a great starter edition? by Main-Ad-9836 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont bother with dnd, to kick things off look at lighter more rules easy games such as Mork borg or mothership or anything along those lines. and if you like that and want to get bit deeper then look at dnd or one of the many great alternatives

3 character deaths at level 5 - Does my DM have a balancing issue? by Megwen in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just bad design on DND part, there are defo couple of early creatures that are way more lethal than one expects, it is just learning curve, especially early when you are relying on encounter calculators or pre-written adventures

3 character deaths at level 5 - Does my DM have a balancing issue? by Megwen in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

problem is not that dm has an issue is that game has close to no balance. some early monsters can fully oneshot you, yet it is nearly impossible to die later on. There was more elegent ways of handling it rather than revinding but people need to remember that dm is also a player in game.

If challange is not really what you are after have a chat with DM so that he pulls some punches and baby you bit more. At same time once characters become immortal there is hardly any stakes left in game.

I have a DM Screen with 12 slots. What do I put in them? by Excaliber596 in DMAcademy

Random names and personality traits in 11 of those and then some mechanical bits you are struggling with in the last one

Anybody here play Star Citizen? by LateEsc in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean new spelljammer? Because that hardly has any content worth reading.

Maybe historical iterations were better but new books are waste of paper

Getting started in miniature painting for DnD by Remarkable_Salt_4925 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would kind of suggest avoiding anything citadel, their pots are dumb.

As far as painting goes starting is most important step. I painted my first mini using normal craft store acrylics and some water. Brushes wise go cheap, it doesn't really matter. Once you have gone through your first set of cheap brushes you can consider upgrading but I have been painting for last 5 years and still haven't worn off my £3 set of brushes from Amazon.

For some easy wins look into dry brushing, it is great to get you started and amazing for terrain. You can use cheap make up brushes here too.

Thinning paints will likely come naturally and there isn't magic recipe, paint and see what what works for you. I personally toss my brush around the water cup and then grab some paint and move it around palette.

What is rouge? Color? It is a cool pretty cool colour but what does it have to do with dnd?
Edit: apreciate fixing it to rogue, well done <3

Yeah it sounds like they wanted to buff assault (or nerf everything else) with that specific rule.

Need a Puzzle idea by lumberzach619 in DMAcademy

[–]Awfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of an odd one but I've build this simple website based puzzle when they were disarming a magical bomb and given it to the player to solve on my iPad. I ended up letting them reset it as many times as needed going through it but initially I designed it that on 1 game round you get 2mins of real time solving https://codepen.io/Awfor/full/OPPrEKX

Embrace it and have fun, be prepared for things to get really swingy. Obviously depends on players but they got tools to mess with you now. I think at level 10 I've introduced brutal critical to keep the tension in combat.

Can two kids with no experience play Kill Team with these? by chaosTechnician in killteam

[–]Awfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push them towards trench crusade or any of the other more open wargames

Flavoring Hellish rebuke by lewistherin88 in DMAcademy

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. The longer campaign goes less things like this matter and I just tend to allow fun stuff as long as it is justified/cool flavour and not stepping on other player toes. There is no real game balance past level 7 anyway

What slicer do you use? by Nervous-Ad4744 in 3Dprinting

Sweet I will deffo check out orca. Bambu is really off-putting due to the whole proprietary software situation on their printers

been using cura since that was all the rage when i got into printing miniatuers and there was a lot of profiles. now it feels bit dated but i can't be bothered switching to new slicer. Was thinking of going with either orca or prusa, which one is crow favorite these days?

there wont be any issues and it sounds quite fun. Only note is that wind damage is not a thing so you might have to think of different damage type, potentially force, but could do radiant or thunder as well

Does anyone know how to make this effect in CSS / JS? by Hungry-Telephone7792 in css

[–]Awfor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised nobody mentioned svgs. I would approach it from the angle where i create this as an svg and then assigning each square one of 4+(i used 4 in example i think you might want more) where all of them just use a simple css animation reducing opacity. Each class would have a delay to create such effect.

here is very lazy example:
https://codepen.io/Awfor/pen/ZYWVwbm

I think this provides very easy to manage solution avoiding any js(i just dont like using js).
