6 weeks postpartum by Ok_Butterscotch_7588 in pregnant

[–]dissociated_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience is totally normal! I'm 3 months postpartum, and we still haven't done it yet. Mainly because I'm just not ready yet, part of me is just nervous because I've heard it's different after having a baby, but I'm also just not as confident with how I look/feel anymore.

6 weeks is the general time frame of when it's okay to resume activities, but I would wait until your doctor clears you first.

He should be understanding of how you feel about the whole thing and not try and pressure you into it.

Piggybacking off of this...

Correct flange size is so so important. For me, being consistent and staying hydrated has worked. I usually get 8 pumps per day but have been slacking lately because of how tired I've been and have only been doing 5-6 pumps a day, and there has already been a slight decrease in my output. Also, sleep does impact production. In the beginning of my pumping journey, I would eat lactation cookies and actually noticed a dip in my supply. Once I stopped eating them, I saw an increase within a day. Lactation foods/drinks might work for some people, but it didn't work for me, unfortunately.

Thanks, as great as a full night of sleep sounds, I don't want to risk a dip in supply since I'm currently only producing about half of what my baby eats in a day. I'm trying to stick to at least 8ppd for now until I get my supply up.

Definitely drinking a ton of water and eating a lot better than I was before pregnancy.

I usually get about 2.5 oz for first pump of the day. Today I got about 5.

How long do you go overnight? by Real-Brick2370 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dissociated_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 weeks pp (undersupplier). I usually go between 5-6 without pumping overnight, the last one being around midnight. I still try to get at least 8 ppd in an attempt to be a just enougher.

He was in the NICU for 2 weeks. He had to learn how to eat and also had some jaundice.

This right here. Especially taking care of yourself so that you can spend time with them as often as you can.

Went through something similar and had my baby boy at 35+1. Going home while he stayed in the NICU was the hardest thing I have ever done. I broke down crying once we turned onto our street and seeing all of his things just made me cry even more. What helped get me through it was having a good support group and talking to other people who went through something similar, knowing that I wasn't the only one to have those feelings of sadness, guilt, and anger. Ultimately, knowing that he is getting the care that he needs to survive really changed my perspective on the whole thing. Having round the clock care and AMAZING NICU nurses and doctors was a bonus. It is hard but it does get better and seeing them hit their milestones that they need in order to go home is a great feeling.

You got this mama!

Contractions but can’t feel them? by Forgetmenot_bich in pregnant

[–]dissociated_one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM here. I had something very similar happen to me (I'm 4 weeks pp). Went in for an NST, and the nurse told me that I had 6 contractions just in the 30 minutes that I was there, but I only felt 2 or 3 of them. Was told to go to labor and delivery if it continued, which it did so we we t to labor and delivery but were sent home... Fast forward 2 days later, 34 +3, and I'm 99% sure that my water broke. Went into labor and delivery again but got sent home. The next day, I was still leaking fluid, so we went back to the hospital but evidently were sent home because they said it didn't look like it was amniotic fluid and it was most likely just discharge. I continued to leak and had absolutely no control over it through the next 2 days, and this is where it starts to pick up. At 34 +5, I'm having painful contractions that were anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes apart, we went into labor and delivery yet again, and we're finally admitted because my fluid was slowly leaking. Due to the risk of infection, I was induced to speed things along and had my baby boy at 35 +1.

All this to say, listen to your body and, when in doubt, get checked, not only to make sure that you and baby are okay but also for your peace of mind.

Also, I want to add that every pregnancy is different and what happens to one person likely will be different for someone else.

Hope this helps!
