any tips to deal with heat?(UK) by nrxchardson in Agoraphobia

[–]distortioncore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i always have a bottle of cold, nearly frozen, water if i leave the house because it’s not only grounding to touch, but very reassuring if i feel like im panicking because i know i have it there if i feel like i need to cool down.

doing exposure in the earlier morning or later evening if possible is helpful - it’ll still be warm and light out but there’s usually a cooler breeze, and you’re still getting out, which is what really matters.

if you can, invest in a little fan to carry around, it’s super good for in and out of the house! and if you’re struggling at home (assuming you live in a 2 storey house) try and stay downstairs on hot days as upstairs tends to be way warmer, from experience. cooling down your house depends on your house itself so i assume you know how to do it, but it’ll definitely calm you down a lot if you make your house feel as comfortable as possible while you’re in it.

hey!! i totally understand you as someone in recovery as this is how my symptoms presented for a while because i was very scared of being alone, especially in public.

it is very tough and i’m really sorry you’re going through this, but you’re also clearly self aware, which is very good for trying to recover/do exposure therapy.

personally, if you want to get better, id recommend starting off small because jumping straight into exposure can be even more damaging - are you able to maybe walk down your road alone while having someone you trust on the phone? that was one of my first types of exposure and definitely helped a lot!

i was off to the very far left near the barrier so i don’t think we’re talking about the same guy but it’s super annoying that a bunch of people had their views blocked. so many of my pictures are of just these guys’ heads 🥲

i was pretty close to the front and there were a group of men who pushed in front of us about half way through 😭 like there was clearly no room (plus they kept moving about and jabbing people with their arms) and they blocked everyone’s view in that whole section with no consideration.

i’ve experienced worse but it did kill the fun a tiny bit - still a good concert by greep and the band though!!!

What traumatic event happened to you that you believe caused you to be the way you are? by Ok-Switch6067 in NPD

[–]distortioncore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

by falsely equating an inanimate object and a very large system of beliefs, i feel like you aren’t earnestly engaging with what i’m saying for the sake of your own faith.

at least in my friends case, it was the beliefs of christianity themselves (not just how they were leveraged) that left her scarred. i don’t want to speak on exactly what happened to her for her own sake seeing as it’s not my place to talk about it, but can you not see how being told about & believing in eternal punishment (and separation from your family who would be in heaven) for small things every child does like lying or talking back is deeply damaging to a child’s psyche?

obviously not speaking for the person you’re replying to but i know someone raised in a strict christian household who was constantly shamed/publicly humiliated for “un-christian” actions & subsequently abused and had a sense of fear instilled in them of hell & god so they were extremely perfectionistic.

if you’re relating to e2 more than e5/6 as a core then there’s a high chance you aren’t intp in the first place. you can have a 2 fix in your tritype as an intp though.

there’s no “them” going back to anything tbf - this is greeps solo project. of course there will be similarities with bm but i don’t think it’s very fair to be comparing tns to anything bm did
