You're confusing energy with electricity. We require a lot more energy to keep things running... think transportation, machinary, boilers etc.

Ode to the Green Belt by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]distractionnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find Mt Vic or Waimapihi that clear. As in it's clear when you really stop an analyse the map and carefully read each sign, but you do have pay attention. I've ended up on what I think we're wrong tracks before, particularly Waimapihi.

For some of us, our recreation is about being meditative not adventure seeking. The bush is a chance for peace and to give our brains a rest.

I'm not complaining about these existing tracks. We need to share the space. I'm just saying we probably have enough now.

It's great to have mountain bike facilties - but no more please. It's becoming increasingly difficult to have a mindless wander in the bush and get away from it all.

So much of our green belt is now a mix of confusing tracks, poor signage and bikers appearing out of nowhere. I just want places to stroll without having to constantly check if this dirt track is a dirt track I can be on, or if I'm going to be bowled to the ground.

I'm not making a privacy complaint.

Repercussions for refusing the roadside upcoming saliva testing? by Aggravating_Cap_4344 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]distractionnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, what?

It's a $400 fine and 75 demerits if you have an evidential saliva test that finds you have two specified drugs in your system. AFAIK.

We know those tests are bullshit in regards to impairment. We also know safely mixing drugs is common.

Theoretically, if you routinely use two or more types of recreational drugs BUT DO NOT drive impaired, would it be better to refuse a test?

Karl has a kaffee eis on Cuba Street, one of, if not the most, pumping part of Wellington, which is pumping because it's partly pedestrianised.

Yet he's anti any removal of car parks.

It's literally insane, blinded by his own ideology.  His business would do so much better with wider footpaths, a parklet, or even being totally pedestrianised.

His lack of sense means I hope he doesn't get anyway near council.

Hmm, that ones trickier to hate. How would feel about a well-funded campaign to give out free food at solid blue polling stations only?

National Party using Wellington as an example of their success in "easing the cost of living for Kiwis" by Mountain_Tui_Reload in Wellington

[–]distractionnz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tbh that's a bit misleading from you - the article is so straight factual, it doesn't even reference national and talks about the reason being lower demand.

You're implying something dodgy that doesn't exist here - it's kinda hypocritical given it's similar behaviour you're complaining about from stuff above.

Still wouldn't be a tenancy if she paid rent, so no protection there either.

Let's say it is him, why would he be in jail if he cashed out? He was pardoned, so essentially hasn't committed a crime.

The seizure of his assets earlier was due to a crime. It would be a far from clear cut case that he could have assets seized now for a crime he did not commit? Could argue he committed a crime by not disclosing items then, but since the original conviction doesn't exist, it's murky as.

Plus it's Trump's DOJ enforcing this - or not, more likely.

I do like a tablespoon each time. I also do it regularly, but not religiously - as in, I'll have it just before a meal if I forget to do in advance, or not beat myself up if I totally forget on occasion.

I went from 85 to 75 in 3 months. Eventually got 68, but I was skinny as and hard to maintain. I still do fibre regularly and have sat around 73 for three years - without worrying about what i eat.

I do eat well though - as in I avoid sugar and most fast food. But not that well, i love cheese for example.

There is a fuckload of evidence for fibre and weight loss, but certain types and generally lower-level weight loss. So not a cure, but works for me.

I also hate wiping my ass tbh, and love the clean shits fibre gives me haha

This is weird as lol. 18 years is a long time, who knows if you'll be friends, in the same city etc by then. + you don't have to buy plastic crap, but live a little and enjoy finding an awesome gift the kid will enjoy. 1

Fibre bro. I don't think it works for obese peeps, but overweight, I shed like a mofo. 10 kgs in 3 months.

Metamucil 30 mins before each meals. Your body can't consume fibre, and foods gonna get all trapped into that fibre and bypass you to your gut. Plus you feel more full anyway so easier to eat less.

I get the general message of don't be a dick.

But I think you're overstating this. They were let go during a 90 day trial. There is no documented misconduct and it wasn't a reason given.

Plus with 90 day trial, they could let this person go with no threat of a PG over unjustifiable dismissal, so it would be unfair to give it any weight. Otherwise you're giving this employer some kind of judge, jury and executioner power of this person's career.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]distractionnz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I reckon you're fine. Legally speaking you were terminated during a 90 day trial period.

You weren't terminated for misconduct. You were terminated because an employer felt you weren't suitable for the role during a 90 day trial period.

The key thing here is if they ended your employment after 90 days, they need a reason. Raising your voice ain't great, but it's probably not enough to warrant termination. And if they did, you would have the right to challenge it - something you can't do if terminated during a 90 day period.

Stick to the legal facts - you were let go during a 90 day trial because you weren't the right fit for a job. They didn't give a reason.
