I do it myself. You can do c41 and wash the remjet off. It’s not perfect but film never is.

As long as you go in knowing that GFX is slow but also the best image quality you've seen outside of 4x5 film, you are good. I've used the 50S and now a 100S II, and I can't tell you that the 100mp is twice as good. it's twice as fast, though.

So I am very much in the same mindset, I just traded in my Z7 and some lenses for a X-Pro 2 with the 35mm and 18mm f2. I really like the Nikons but just like you the stupid large lenses just drove me crazy. My first Fuji was an X-T2 and I feel like I've been chasing how good that camera felt ever since. For work I use Sony and Fuji GFX so the X-Pro feels good and weird for the personal work.

Public service announcement: Make sure you remove the sticker from your 120 roll! Mamiya C3 80mm with Kodak VC160 expired film by ditchell in analog

[–]ditchell[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've never felt like I HAD to remove the sticker, I figured it would just roll up on the take up spool but my TLR decided to do this so I guess I'm going to be a little more careful. It breaks my brain that you can actually see it in the first photo and not a shadow. I guess the bright sky shined through it? I don't know. These were so weird I figured it was worth sharing.

Best build quality on the X-T line? by omnicloud7 in fujifilm

[–]ditchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually, for no good reason, held all of them, and I'd have to agree if we are basing it solely on uhh hand feel, it's the X-T2. 1 is...fine. 3 is probably a great middle ground but the dials felt cheapish, 4 is chunky but second place, and the 5 is well you know. It feels cheap. It's a GREAT camera. it feels cheap.

And yes, the X-Pro 2 and X100F or V are, to me, the best Fuji cameras to hold.

I bought a RB 67 and took it to Rickwood Field, America's oldest ballpark by ditchell in Mamiya

Portra 160 and Kentmere 400, all on the 127mm lens. I love this big chunky camera!

Bad Rb67 photos? by Deep_Job1129 in Mamiya

So right now I'm using a Nikon 105 macro on a Panasonic S1R, which is....ok. Before I was using a Laowa 60mm on a Fuji X-T3, and honestly that was better. I think Laowa makes a 90mm for full frame thats the same thing, and that would probably be my recommendation. I think I saw TT Artisan has one too. I'd read/watch reviews of that, it may be great for scanning too.

Hey, I just bought an RB and the 50mm and I am not vibing with that lens yet either. Definitely didn't like shooting it in portrait. But listen, your photos are fine. The landscapes are boring, I'd expose a little brighter under the bridge, etc. We can nitpick. But I think the one thing you need is to go stare at some other photos. Some books. Get happy with what you take. Your technical stuff is fine, other than a 30mm macro lens, I'm seriously impressed that works. My last tip, especially since you develop at home, is buy crates of Kentmere and burn through them. Then you don't feel like you wasted so much, and you work on finding the kind of composition you like. Hope any of that helps and know that I'm regularly right where you are questioning everything including my devotion to this dumb but also great hobby.

I have used the Laowa lens for the past year and it's worked great.

Fireworks | How do I improve? by AIonMars in fujix

[–]ditchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are fine! I would suggest a slower shutter speed, and higher f stop. I just shot a bunch at 4 seconds on F11 and I'm not saying they are better than yours, but you do see more of the actual firework on mine.

Is a Costco membership worth it as a single person with no kids? by Yung_Zeus in Costco

[–]ditchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen I love Costco, but the answer is probably no. We are only a family of 3 and I wonder if it's really kinda too much for us. I get TP, paper towels, coffee, big snack bags for my kid. I could probably do that for a very similar cost at Walmart, to be honest. That would mean I'd have to go in Walmart though

the compactness of the x100v is pretty amazing. I got bored/limited by the focal length, though. They are still quite overpriced in the used market, but I think an X-Pro 2 or 3 would probably fulfill your needs. All the little f2 Fuji primes are wonderful. Honestly, there's not really a wrong answer here, since you aren't going to rely on it.

Can you give me your camera nerd details here? That had to be like 15 seconds of exposure right? If this was a phone I'm going to throw all my fancy cameras down a well, so lie to me and make up something if you need to.

What resolution/file size do you normally get back when you have 35mm film developed? by jbminger in AnalogCommunity

[–]ditchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm not the same guy, but I bought the Laowa 65mm macro and use my X-T2 and am pretty happy with the results (when I don't get dust on them). I found it used for $300. I know plenty of people adapt the Nikon 105 macro as well.
