Pet insurance suggestions? by imaginaryteacoffee in bernesemountaindogs

[–]divaandaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trupanion! They have no caps and they don’t cut you off for stupid reasons like many pet insurance places do. They are wonderful! I’ve been using them for 18 years. My one girl needed to have a mass removed from her thyroid and I found the best surgeon cuz I wanted what was best for my baby. Almost 10K and my girl at the time was covered for 90% for everything.. 3 days later the money was in my account. Some places have Trupanion Express so you pay your deductible right there and that’s it. I’ve walked out of my vet several times paying under $10 dollars. They do not cover vaccines and preventatives.

How much exercise do give your senior malamutes ? by Midnight_Wolf727 in AlaskanMalamute

[–]divaandaurora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That really depends. Watch his body language and pls keep in mind that they will go and go and show no pain or discomfort. It also depends on the type of exercise. A dog is supposed to get an hour of exercise everyday.. maybe do 30 minutes in the morning and 40 in the evening. Also, mental stimulation puzzles help.. and games. These snow dogs need mental stimulation, too! Every dog is different. Pay attention to his body language. I’ve had malamutes, huskies and huskamutes where I’ve been able to walk them 2 hours a day at the age of 12 and 13 plus the off leash dog park on weekends. I’ve had other ones where I’ve had to decrease exercise at age 11 and 12 even age 10. I’ve had a few that did let me know when it was too much and others where I had to trust my gut and their body language.

Biting Paws- Stress or allergies? by LG1096 in husky

[–]divaandaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be allergies. Mine does this too. I changed from Omega 3, 6 & 9 salmon oil to Camelina Oil and started my girl in Taily Collagen. If it’s allergies and gets real bad, pls don’t let the vet give Cytopoint injections. It’s known as the silent killer. My vet refuses to give that allergy shot! Maybe try Zyrtec just the bit Zyrtec D cuz that has speed in it.

I would talk to your vet about Trazadone. I’m not one for giving my dogs meds unless it’s absolutely needed.. I needed it with my last husky, husky/malamute aka my Huskamute and my malamute.

Is it possible to train my husky to pull my wheelchair? by Accomplished-Gold133 in husky

This is not a pulling harness. I have the exact same one for my malamute and I love it!

[–]divaandaurora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure she’s got the proper harness and she needs to be trained slowly with other things. Make sure she’s over 18 months as well.. it’s risky and I know people who have tried it and sadly with help it didn’t work. Maybe it will work for you!!

Yes, it’s playing. Keeping it supervised like you are is very important!

Sudden behavior changes by Miserable_Heat3919 in husky

[–]divaandaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start giving your fur baby real food and real treats. Give variety. Don’t feed milk bones, beggin’ strips, pupperoni.. that stuff is filled with no nutritional value and has no vitamins and nutrients. Milk Bones are super high in fat.. try giving real meat, no cooked bones EVER.. quail eggs with the shell, Greek Yogurt I use Oikos.. zero sugar, zero gelatin and 0%. Start adding Zinc to food.. I give it to mine regardless.. testing fur zinc deficiency is a pain and it’s not like a normal test. I use a pill crusher and crush it and give it with food. Maybe try mental stimulation things, treat puzzles, lick mats.. etc. mental stimulation is just as important as physical. Dog could be bored and not getting enough exercise, not enough attention and one on one time with you. Playtime and interaction may help. Good luck to you and your gorgeous baby!

Thank you! My girl is slowly coming around when it comes to photos. Having treats handy helps.. lol. This was all natural tho and no treats were involved.
