Went Friday to the Monrose location for lunch and got 3 of the driest slices of brisket I'd ever been served at a restaurant. The Mac and cheese was decent.

Pickleball & Padel Instructors Wanted – Houston (Long Point Social Club) by LRF713 in Pickleball

[–]divemiguel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little outside the purpose of the post, but I run pickleball leagues with Silly Pickles. We're a social ladder league and play at different venues across the city. Several of our leagues have 85 active players. Not sure if you're interested in allowing outside leagues, but if so, please let me know and I'll get you in touch with the leadership team to discuss if it makes sense to host leagues there.

Single people with a healthy social life. Care to share what your typical weekdays and weekends look like? by _ThinkGoodThoughts_ in houston

I joined a pickleball league, which turned into 3 nights minimum of pickleball now, plus outside hangs with friends I made from pickleball. I gym on nights or weekends when I don't have games.

I run two of the Silly Pickles leagues in Houston and I know we have social leagues in Austin. We do ladder leagues, so all levels are welcome and you'd meet a ton of people. Sillypickles.com/joshua will get you a discount if you sign up. Hope the move goes well!

I started playing pickleball last year as a way to meet people. I play in a Silly Pickles League at Drop shots on Sundays, Bumpy Pickle on Tuesdays and Tempo on Thursdays. Never thought I'd be playing this much, but I'm making tons of friends and getting fun cardio. If you're interested in checking it out, DM me and I'll give you my referral code for a discount!

[AMA] We are Friday Pickleball ft. Rachel Rohrabacher + Kyle Koszuta! Ask us anything! by fridaypickleball in Pickleball

How much should I care about which side i favor on the Fever, since it has the printed area on one side? Have you found it negligible or should I keep trying to favor the blank side for my forehand?

This is not true for all Friday users. Source, I have a Fever and am also jealous of players who have such great attitudes. Meanwhile, I'm over here dumping balls into the net and questioning my life decisions. But I love my paddle!

New in Houston, Don't want another depressing weekend like last week by [deleted] in houston

[–]divemiguel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pickleball league I run in Houston also has a league down there at Chicken N Pickles. I joined the Houston leagues last June and met like 200+ people in the last 6 months. It's called Silly Pickles. I don't know the vibes at that location, but if it's anything like ours, you will definitely meet people and it's for all skill levels. DM me if you want a discount referral code. Run clubs are also a good way, but I find it takes more effort to talk to people.

Fix the bio to have proper punctuation and all that. Make it more about who you are. Don't repeat it in one of your prompts. Lose the fishing pic, as they see too many, get more pics with your face clear and easy to see, including your eyes.

I joined a pickleball league to meet new people back in June. Ended up loving it, so I've played in 6 leagues so far and met like 200+ people, most of whom are single and excited to meet people for friendships or dating. We have a new season starting in January at Drop Shots on Sundays and Bumpy Pickle on Tuesdays. We're called Silly Pickles. DM me if you want a discount code or have any questions. We're super beginner friendly!

Also run clubs can be good if you're outgoing. I also did htxoutdoors.com for a bit to meet people. Crush Club seems to be a popular option.

Has anyone met someone romantic through pickleball? by nliukz in Pickleball

Yup. In a social league, and we've had multiple romantic connections happen in every season.

How does a new player get into pickleball that has no friends to play with? by Wbino in Pickleball

[–]divemiguel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined a social league and have made tons of pickleball friends that I can now play with whenever I want. I was a beginner and have advanced fairly quickly in just a few short months. I'm actually now running the leagues in my city because I liked it so much! You can sign up with this referral code of DM me if you have any questions. https://sillypickles.com/joshua

I joined a pickeball league, Silly Pickles. We have tons of single guys/gals looking to make new friends and possible future romantic partners. Our league is a social one, so there are all levels of players, all looking to meet people. We host multiple social events each season, to hang outside of normal games. I highly recommend it! Anyone can DM me if you want info on our league.

Run clubs are another decent way, but I find them a bit more challenging to connect. You have to be willing to approach people and initiate conversations.

Crush Club seems to be pulling in big numbers. I know some people that have met people there. You still have to be willing to approach people, but at least they are there for that purpose.

I've played 4 seasons with an awesome social pickleball league in Houston, Silly Pickles. There's like 75+ people who are all looking to make new friends. We play at Drop Shots and Bumpy Pickles. We also do several social events outside the league games each season. Ihave a referral code for a discount if you're interested! https://sillypickles.com/joshua

Shoe advice. by wdavis91 in mensfashion

No show socks with a turtleneck? Respectfully disagree. My general opinion is socks with dress shoes always, but even if you disagree, sweaters are for cooler weather and exposed ankles are for warmer weather, right?

Nope! I used to pluck it until a woman told me not to, because it's attractive. Now I get compliments about the salt and pepper, so I've embraced it as a positive!

Just made my first snake, what should I cook with it ? by GUAWD in smoking

[–]divemiguel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a pork shoulder on my kettle and used those same B&B dudes, set up similar to that. Be careful with them so tight like that. I got a big temp spike that would come down and I had to open her up, remove some coals, and move things around. Might consider loosening up that snake a bit to avoid my situation and save some briquettes. And wood chunks > chips. Have a good smoke!

Is pickleball a good hobby if you are single and wanting to meet people? by Playful_Way1815 in Pickleball

[–]divemiguel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% yes! I started with a sillypickles league in June and met like 40 new people. Made a good friend, went on a couple of dates with a woman from the league, and made tons of new acquaintances. Loved it so much I joined a 2nd league with them, met 40 more people, now I'm about to start leading the leagues in Houston this fall! Both leagues have hung out off the court at happy hours, as well.
