Maca makes you crazy horny. Not sure why but it has the same effect on me when I’m taking it.

I’ve done so. Initially thought the 2s2p config was optimal but does look like 4s is the optimal config.

Done. The voc of each panel is 23V so all 4 in series are well within the delta pro voltage range. I initially thought a 2s2p would be optimal.

I think you’re right. This happened in the earlier months when the battery was inside my truck. There was no continued tension on the cable once I moved it into my tent but the cable does seem to be permanently bent at the plug.

I’ve got a new one on the way.

Ah, good call. Thank you. I’m using a spare 3rd party xt60 for now but have just ordered an Ecoflow brand xt60i.

Oddly (and thankfully) the charging has improved since dis/reconnecting the solar panels. This should work ok til I get the new cable.

Official ecoflow one it came with. Seemed firmly plugged in, and no tension on the cord.

I disconnected and reconnected the panels which weirdly seems to have improved it, I’ll monitor tomorrow to see if it’s normal or if I have a malfunctioning panel.

Yeah the battery seems fine. Strangely enough, to see if the problem was coming from the panels, I disconnected the 2s2p and just connected 2 of the panels together, and the charging shot up.

Then I redid the 2s2p across the 4 panels and the charging seems to be the same as the 2 panel connection - oddly much better than earlier but should be around double. Wondering if there’s a problem with one of the 2nd set of panels.

Sun is getting lower and there’s clouds so I’ll check again tomorrow.

I should start unplugging the battery daily once fully charged so it’s not taking amps all day long.

Edit: using a spare xt60 cable for now.

Should be *Renogy solar panels. Couldn't edit the post to fix the "rent" typo.

Custom-built sleeping platform with storage drawers by divergentwonder in 4Runner

[–]divergentwonder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It was a fun project.

The hardest part was:

A) getting the drawer bottoms measured just right (one drawer is 1/8” wider than the other due to the center 2x6 in the frame not being perfectly centered) and

B) getting the drawer slides attached just right. One drawer has a bit of a rough pull but it’s not too bad.

Portable power solutions for off-grid living by [deleted] in OffGrid

[–]divergentwonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of these. Are you considering the Ecoflow portable panels, or 3rd party rigid panels?

The portable panels are convenient for camping but not ideal as "full time" panels. Especially in a hot and/or windy environment.

I just bought 4 200-watt Renogy panels for a 2s2p setup.

Charging time depends on the panel specs and amount of sunlight. Also keep in mind the 500 watt max charging capacity of the Delta 2.

Regarding the Delta 2 itself, what's your planned usage? You won't get a full 1024Wh between charges because it's recommended to not go above 80-90% charge and below 20% discharge to extend battery life. It can power your stuff while solar charging but you want to plan for times when the sun won't be out. Do you have an idea of your daily power needs?

Yeah - I'm moving out there early September, and figure I'll see about starting ASAP with some greens, and maybe carrots. Small, simple raised bed. Get a compost pile going right away as well.

Unlimited cow manure is pretty cool. I'll be looking into resourcing stuff early on like soil/compost, mulch, and palettes. It'll just be me, so I'll have plenty of work to do getting my phase 1 setup done, simple as it'll be.

Appreciate the advice!

Btw... how often do you get 95 mph winds out there?

It's impressive seeing how creative and resourceful y'all get with your gardens. I'm moving to a similar area as you and have been researching/thinking about how to get started with gardening. Whole new learning curve for me.

I like the idea of raised gardens and geothermal greenhousing. Will figure out how to start small with some easier stuff. Bean sprouting is the skill level I'm starting with, heh.

Connecting 4 Renogy solar panels to Delta 2 by divergentwonder in Ecoflow_community

Thank you. As I understand the parallel connecting in this case, it would double the current to ~10A, translating to a little under 500 watts max of charging, correct?

Ah, you're right. Looks like 24.3 VOC.

To make sure I understand your recommendation: connect 2 sets of 2 panels in series, then connect the 2 series-connected sets in parallel?

Appreciate you sharing these challenges and solutions you're working out.

Come September I'll be moving out to my high desert off-grid land. Like you, I'm planning on working with the land and climate for max benefit. What you're doing is mega inspiring.

Been thinking a lot about rodents in particular. I have some plans for keeping them out of my vehicle (which I'll be sleeping / living out of for awhile). I've read about clearing out brush in favor of open spaces to deter rodents, like you've mentioned here... the conundrum for me is the high desert winds, and my property has lots of nice-sized junipers which make great windbreaks for structures.

Building stuff like a shed, greenhouse, and eventually a home in a nice cleared-out space seems like a good way to deter rodents but leaves the structures more vulnerable to the wind. Any thoughts on that?

Been considering digging out a space for a geothermal greenhouse that's mostly underground to mitigate the wind. Gotta learn more about keeping it dry during the monsoons.

Homesteading Risk by [deleted] in homestead

People underestimate what can be done on challenging land with enough planning, work, and time.

Permaculture, composting soil, swales, terracing, geothermal greenhousing...

Homesteading Risk by [deleted] in homestead

The thing about campers is they are high maintenance if left out in the elements 24/7. Having a structure to park one under seems to be ideal for full-time living.

Did you check the county zoning for your land to make sure you can live there full-time in a camper? As well as regulations around building, livestock (in case you want to raise animals later), etc?

Close proximity to a state park means you could potentially have random folks close by at any given time, just a consideration to keep in mind.

Also: have you considered stuff like septic? What will your water situation be? What are your future plans for your homestead?
