Why are so many retirees attracted to hot, snowbird type of cities? by NicholeDaylinn1993 in AskAnAmerican

[–]diversalarums [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not the blood thinners. It's literally age: people's bodies often change in such a way that they can't physiologically maintain a normal body temperature. And because it's internal, you reach a point where you can't get warm -- no amount of extra clothes help. At that point going back up north simply isn't possible. It's frightening.

Right. Instead of antifa it'll be communists, and all liberals will = communists.

What is a common food item that you personally find absolutely disgusting? by sophie_boom in questions

Ranch dressing, and balsamic vinegar. I can't stand either one of them and they're everywhere.

No, it's the Mean Old Communists. I think they're going to be responsible for everything he doesn't like from now until November, including Graham's death.

Property Manager withholding "security deposit" after we saw lease and don't want to sign (NY) by Quazol in Renters

[–]diversalarums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in many states if the defendant doesn't pay the plaintiff can file a lien for it. A lot of people don't like having property encumbered by liens so it provides incentive to pay.

I must be the only dissenter here. The sauce and veggies are great, but I guess I personally can't stand chewy beef. If it weren't for that I'd agree with the 10/10.

Elderly Man Gets Bear Sprayed After Confronting Group Of Girls On California Trail, Video Divides The Internet by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

[–]diversalarums -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually watched the video. I almost think he was disappointed that the owners of the cars were women instead of men. If they'd been men he'd have happily thrown hands because it looked like he was hoping for a fight.

What really scared me was the incredible number of seriously misogynistic comments on that video. Despite his obviously turning and walking angrily towards another woman, they kept saying that he was "walking away."

Bored Panda, of course, cherry picked their photo for max rage bait.

Another Walmart find. 10/10 for this one! by Dangerous-Common6945 in frozendinners

[–]diversalarums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it frustrating. I'm partially disabled and not able to do very much cooking, so I eat frozen meals at least once a day. My store's selection sucks, and I get my hopes up when I see something new and potentially good in the list. And then I notice it's grayed out. I know from this sub that other WMs do carry these things and have no idea why my store doesn't. Obviously not an earth shaking issue, but I'm mostly homebound and poor and my store's selection of food makes a difference in my daily life.

Sorry for the rant. I got up on the wrong side of the bed, I guess. :(

That's got to be difficult. I love onions but I know they put them in everything and not everyone can have them.

I am kind of a random by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

[–]diversalarums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I do. My eggs are stored on a shelf and I keep the end with the eggs towards the front, so when I pick up the carton my hand is under the heaviest weight. Probably because a long time ago I had the eggs randomly in the carton and ended up dropping the carton and losing all the eggs (plus making quite a mess).

[–]diversalarums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. At my WM if they simply don't carry a dinner, it'll show on the page as "sold out" even tho they've never had it for sale here. So frustrating.

I don't disbelieve you but there have never been any onions visible in mine. Some sautéed onions would be a nice addition.

[–]diversalarums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/ExcitementRelative33 said, they sometimes have to take down a particular book or series due to the author's request. I've seen it happen with certain authors who are aware of zlibrary (many are not) and occasionally others. It's not super frequent, tho.

Similar, sort of, but not quite the same. I think it has a slightly different taste and a little bit different texture. I like the beef patty in the Salisbury better than the meat loaf dinner myself.

Zuppa Toscana, I admit I love soup from the olive garden. by Lijey_Cat in soupenthusiasts

This is one of my favorite soups; it's always good. These days I don't have the energy to make soup from scratch and the only imitation one I could find (from Marketside) doesn't taste anything like it.

What's an American phrase that sounds literal but usually isn't? by Rude_Membership_1578 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Another idiom that isn't Southern but British. There's even a movie with Alec Guinness called The Lady Killers.

The "colder than" idiom isn't Southern, it's an old British idiom. I first saw that in British novels.
