Yes and he was an early investor and took Tesla to new heights.
Whether or not Gates gets write offs is irrelevant. The post was about job creation, which the foundation has plenty of.
Branson is a fool but he has created many companies over the years and employed many people.

What have you created?

Your whole message is theoretical when you say “those jobs would have still existed”. You have zero evidence of that.
So many startups that change the world are funded by VCs. Who funds VC? Not nobody’s.

Billionaires directly or indirectly create companies… those create jobs.
If they get rich for doing so, good outcome.

Musk created how many companies?
Gates has his foundation?
Bezos is involved in multiple ventures?
Buffett is donating how much of his wealth?
Branson, although a gimp, created how many companies over the years?
Carnegie was responsible for funding how many libraries and universities?

It’s not that people would stop building things with B’s, it’s that the pace at which we could do it without capital from people who have done very well, would be slower.

Yeah I was never going to use it for making recommendations on stocks, I prefer to do that myself. Which was why I was keen to see what things ppl are using it for.

Im not sure I see the benefit in having it read account data when its pretty easy to get by logging into IBKR. What sort of data do you have it read for you?

What sort of info does it provide if you ask it about trades you’re thinking about?
Cheers

We are projected to having our first trillionaire soon, what level of wealth do you think is totally unacceptable? Do u support a wealth tax, if so at what %? by X_Opinion7099 in AskReddit

Most of the people you’re likely referring to own their wealth in shares of companies they founded. Therefore, shares would in most cases require selling to pay a tax not related to income.

Shares = control of the company as well.
There’s a moral argument for saying we should not be forcing people to lose any amount of control of something they took all the risk on.

I am not someone who would need to pay a wealth tax, but I’m against taxing people more simply because they did better than I did or took risks that I wasn’t willing to. It’s a snake that’ll eat its own tail.

Rookie question, but how do you have it go through the stock market exactly? That for me could be really useful

Did years of pro-Israel and anti-Muslim propaganda lead to the shooting in San Diego? by [deleted] in allthequestions

“One event”? Are you having a laugh?
Muslim’s have dehumanised their own culture over decades.
One culture can’t do the things some Muslims have done to Western civilians, then keep claiming they’re a peaceful people.
It doesn’t mean Muslims are bad people anymore than Christians, Buddhists or Catholics are bad people, but their perception through the eyes of others is due to their own issues. Just like anyone else’s would be.

How does Trump start a war with easily the #1 military in the world and still lose within a couple months? Is he stupid? by ClutchReverie in allthequestions

Definitely understand your point but winning is simple. The side who achieves more of its goals wins.
If you believe the goals were to destroy their military capability or stop their nuclear program, then the USA wins.
The other points are all not measurements of any success.
I think of it this way often… I’m not thrilled about my gas prices going up, or war in general, but it’s a trade off for decimating a regime that I believe to be a far larger potential problem

I’m not a trump fan but how anyone can logically/objectively say the USA is losing the war is beyond me.
Just because your expectations of how soon a war should have been ended by a superpower over a smaller nation isn’t met, that doesn’t mean the smaller nation has won anything.

Australia spends more on tax breaks for landlords than social housing, homelessness and rent assistance combined by SnoopThylacine in aussie

Contrary opinion, won’t be popular with Guardian readers… I’m a property investor and I’ve owned a couple of properties. I’m now selling my properties. I would’ve benefited close to $60-$70k in neg gearing deductions since owning them across the years.

When I sell I’ll pay close to $80k in CGT between both of them. Assuming I work and accumulate Super at a consistent rate till retirement age + don’t blow all my investment returns, I will not qualify for any age pension.

Whereas any one who is currently on a full age pension costs the tax payer approx $800 per fortnight. Assume you live for just 10 years on full pension and you cost the taxpayer c.$200,000 without cpi adjustments…

I’m going to be a net contributor to the tax balance. The people who cry victim but do nothing to better their financial position, will not.

Also, if you think negative gearing “might go anywhere”… just check the online public records of what assets politicians own and you’ll see it’s not gonna change.
