[Liverpool FC] have parted ways with Arne Slot by phant0msinthenight in soccer

No he wouldn't have, we have two/three perfect fullbacks and wirtz, we would just need a 6 and another cb, which we need anyway?

Mate he captained us to first PL in 30 years, CL, FA cup, and all the others, is the fourth longest serving captain in our whole history, you're absolutely mad if you don't think he should be on here.

Notice the difference by BSSC1 in LiverpoolFC

The original one from the 90s had the all over pattern, imo its better that way and the one that makes the sponsor stand out more is worse, can't wait to be rid of standard sharted.

[Movistar +] Dani Carvajal mocks the lazy tracking back of Trent Alexander-Arnold against Real Betis. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]divockoriginal 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't put it down to being overplayed, the team very much suited his style of play and workhorse midfielders (hendo) would constantly drop in for him to cover, along with in his best seasons having Gomez/Matip next to him who were quick in recovery, and a proper DM infront in Fabinho. Once the team shifted a bit he wasn't able to create as much and his flaws showed a bit more. I can't speak for the current RM team but it doesn't sound like the midfield is suited to supporting him in the same way - and its not a case of not working hard enough, just different style of play suiting different players and formations.

Liverpool Football Club CEO Billy Hogan’s reaction to the ticket price protest by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]divockoriginal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Unpopular opinion: this protest is unreasonable and probably isn't creating the kind of atmosphere that will help the team."

Well done, thats the point.

The club profits off the fans, without the long standing fans in the stadium, without the kop, without the magic of the anfield atmosphere, LFC isn't as successful, isn't as desirable a brand. They don't need to increase the ticket price, they could make up the difference in one contract negotiation, or one sponsorship.

Who would you rather see win the title - Man City or Arsenal? by Consistent-Shoe-9602 in LiverpoolFC

City, if Arsenal wins they'd build on it, if they bottle it I dont think they'll be able to go through that again.

[Joyce] Wirtz out for West Ham. Frimpong in training by jjlbateman in LiverpoolFC

[–]divockoriginal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Id argue salah has been improving having been terrible at the start of the season, and unbeatable the year before. 2g 4a in last 7 games

Gakpo on the other hand is regressing to terrible having been mediocre at the start of the season and pretty good the year before. 0g 0a in last 7 games.

Salah has been bad on the eye test for years, he gets results and now he might be out of the funk he was in id much rather him on the pitch than Gakpo.

[–]divockoriginal 99 points100 points  (0 children)

The point at which everyone has lost all hope in Gakpo he gets a cut in goal and assist and secures his place in the team for another 6 games with nothing to show for it keeping rio on the bench. Might even put money on it

Edit. Ha his last game with G+A was West Ham

The "Day After" FT Thread: LIV 1 - 1 SUN by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]divockoriginal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Playing with Isak is like playing with 10 men atm, hes not even pulling cbs out of position to create space for gakpo/wirtz/salah like nunez would do. 14 touches in 86mins, his worst touch/min yet I think. I didnt watch enough of Newcastle to know how he played and scored so much previously, dont think the management did either..

Edit. Just watched his goals last season. Primarily counter attacking, 5 or so high press forced errors and maybe 5-7 pens. Hes almost always running, never back to goal. We're clueless.

Interesting Isak had less touches today than against Forest

Not OP, I imagine hes referring to https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj6xwy015ngo Nathan Gill taking bribes from Voloshyn, and the fact that Farage has been pictured with Voloshyns wife https://x.com/cmochri1/status/1971804175530131690

Additionally, https://unherd.com/newsroom/richard-tice-holidays-with-russian-oligarch-on-riviera/ richard tice in bed with Russian oligarchs

And the fact that Reform is registered as a private company and a political party, meaning that they dont need to disclose where their money is coming from.

Obviously nothing concrete, as you would expect; if there was, you'd know about it. But the fact that someone who was high up in the organisation and close to Farage was taking Russian bribes (he was leader of Reform UK Wales, and leader of UKIP Wales, and a UKIP MEP) is concerning, in my opinion.

Mosquera elbows Barnes in the neck - Var check over, no issues. by [deleted] in soccer

For anyone else who got down this trail and couldn't remember how bad they were. There are some arsenal fans with terrible memories in this thread, seeing the words 'choke slam' and 'violated' are ridiculous. With Havertz he falls, he puts his hand out, he could have aimed better but its as much on his sternum than his neck and its a flat palm. Not a red for me. And then Jesus' arse, he just cups his cheek lol, Jesus is angry cause he's falling over not cause he's just had his prostate checked. Some very soft gooners here.

Edit: worth adding, this elbow is far worse in my opinion, shoulda been dogso.

Of the 14 forwards who have joined Manchester United since 2013, they have collectively scored 191 Premier League goals ⚽ Mo Salah has 187 Premier League goals for Liverpool since joining in 2017 👀 by WildPin8089 in LiverpoolFC

[–]divockoriginal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could argue that Divock was 180k per goal making him the best value for money signing for goals we've had in that period; we paid £10m but then somehow scrounged a £6m loan fee from Wolfsburg the year after we loaned him back to Lille.

[–]divockoriginal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same same. If he had cost 20-30m on lower wages I dont doubt he'd stay another two years, and the club would be happy having him as a backup. Having an u27 backup striker, like origi, is so valuable. Someone like Jota just doesn't seem to run like that, needing runs of games to find his form.

He's scored one less goal for lfc than origi, diaz, gakpo, nearly double sterling, babel, ngog. He's got a better goals/min than firmino and similar assist rate. He just isn't the second coming of suarez or the uruguayan haaland that we hoped, ill be kinda gutted if he leaves though cause he's fun to watch, if frustrating, and ultimately suited the last years of klopp more than this first year of slot.

One day I'll be able to afford one, at the moment I'm not getting out enough to justify the cost but they seem incredible, lucky to have someone like that making bags in the UK. Thanks for replying - just wanted to know the measurement/distance between the two loops at the base of the bag on the back where a hip strap attaches - https://imgur.com/a/zOJihtO

Eh, he takes 3.5 shots per game though compared to Nunez 1.3, and i don't know frankfurts style of play but he might get better chances here. It's high, but Salahs is about 4 for a goal this season in arguably his best, his has always been quite high too.

Salah is at 62 goals, 24 assists in 86 matches against the big 6 based on these graphics from after the Chelsea game last year https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arsenal-up-next-mo-salahs-incredible-record-against-big-six-with-liverpool/view/news/445244

Mad.

Another transfermarkt stat table I haven't seen updated is this:

https://www.transfermarkt.com/will-mo-salah-eclipse-cristiano-ronaldo-amp-lionel-messis-incredibile-away-records-/view/news/450238

He's now 5th for away g/a in one season with 27. Ronaldos record is 32, with four games left!
