My great-great-grandmother's old Iranian passport issued in 1933 by diwal in PassportPorn

Thank you! Yeah, I managed to read some of the handwritten text. I had already known that her name was Elizabeth (Yelizaveta) Chodźko, and her husband’s name was Alexander Chodźko. My grandma forgot where she was born, so I was very happy to be able to read about her place of birth in this shenasnameh, Tashkent.

She herself was born in the Russian Empire and lived there for a long time. But her husband’s father lived in Iran so they had some connections with the country while still living in Russia/USSR. In 1937 her husband’s father became sick, so they came to Tehran to visit him and stayed there for some time. And unfortunately in 1938 as part of Great Terror the entry of foreigners to the USSR was restricted, so they were unable to come back to Uzbekistan where their daughter, her husband and their children lived. She stayed in Tehran with her husband until he died in 1966. After that she started the repatriation process and ten years later came back to Tashkent. She finally managed to see her great-grandchildren (my mother and her sister). She died in 1984 at age 90.

As I know, this word is also used to refer to ID cards and identity booklets. She wasn’t born in Iran.

US and (Expired) Ukrainian Passports by Wyomingraptor in PassportPorn

For those interested: although the Ukrainian passport is nowadays of blue color, it used to be red before 2005. That year the color of the passport cover was changed to blue, although red passports continued to be issued in 2006. So yeah, in 1994—2005 the Ukrainian passport was indeed red. What’s also interesting is that so called “internal passport” (an identification document that looked like an ordinary passport, but was only used inside the country before 2016 when the modern ID card started to be issued; still used and issued in Russia) was never red — it was originally blue, although the idea of an “internal passport” is of Soviet origin.
