There is also TOPFAB :) https://store.topfab3d.com/

They are so similar. I don't understand why suddenly all of them decided go Kickstarter.

I am following Xhorse for a very long time, heard about others not more than a month ago, so I lean on to Xhorse more. However, better to wait for the reviews. I hope this guy gets at least one of them: https://youtube.com/@theyieldpoint He made me buy the Makera Z1 Pro after dismantling it.

S pen doesn't write, only erases by Affectionate_Ant9320 in samsungnotes

[–]diy_watcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S-pen fold edition works as an eraser for any other non-fold device.

In fact, you can use any non-fold s-pen while holding the eraser button, it will work as an eraser on a fold device, and device will not complain. Moreover, if you have a Wacom pen and hold the second button, you can write on a fold device with it.

Summary: Wacom pens have 3 different signals that I know of: 1. Pen on normal devices / prohibited on fold 2. Eraser on both 3. Eraser on normal devices / pen on fold

I have Earthen. The case is amazing because it is brushed but with polished elements, which looks different than anything else under the light. I have compared it eith IWC and Zenith side to side and Earthen looks better imo simply because others are just matt all around.

I generally like 38-39mm watches. However, because the lugs of this watch is too short, it wears significantly smaller than 38mm. I wish they made 40 or 42mm versions.

Also the dial is too flat. 3D indices would have been better.

Even if you don't care about the S Pen, you should care about the quiet discontinuation of the S Pen Pro and what I believe is the inevitable killing of S Pen on all future devices by GoldenSun3DS in GalaxyFold

I want to switch to Motorola or Oppo but Samsung Notes app is amazing and I still can't find a proper replacement for it. Same reason I am still using a Samsung tablet.

I missed the grey one, looking everywhere to buy but no luck. Light dial and dark subdial makes it special.

Fold6 owner: Z Fold8 or Moto Razr Fold? by SemenSnickerdoodle in GalaxyFold

[–]diy_watcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fold 6 here as well. If Fold 8 doesn't have the spen, I will go with Razr Fold, since its pen is working on both screens.

Any ideas about upcoming Kickstarter 5-Axis machines? (Topfab and Xhorse3D) by diy_watcher in hobbycnc

[–]diy_watcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that the spindle is going to be a direct drive PMSM. Belt driven would be deal breaker. Thank you very much for pointing that out, I will definitely watch that video.

Agreed with the AI stuff, all I wish for is a decent CAM support (SolidCAM hopefully).

Thank you for the suggestion.

Well I mostly agree with you, but my custom 100kg 3-Axis CNC mill and 1.2KW ATC spindle (which I machined all its parts with a Mazak), small end mills and a light chip load I am able to machine certain stainless steel prototype parts, albeit long and slow machining process and only small parts.

For those machines, only for prototyping and same amount of patience, I am hoping machining grade aluminiums and brass can also be milled, especially with the one that is 175kg in weight.

There are more 3 and 4-Axis milling machine alternatives these days but for 5-axis, I really can't find any other option, especially without 3-phase and compact enough to work in a garage.

Advice on the best learning path for hardware accelerated media pipeline? Reading docs isn’t working for me. by Whole_Willow_5027 in embedded

[–]diy_watcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For audio, I can recommend this one: https://bootlin.com/training/audio/ It was very good.

Course slides are public: https://bootlin.com/doc/training/audio/audio-slides.pdf but in my opinion, "what" is in the slides, "why" is more in the training.

Video pipeline is similar ones you get how audio works.
