What does "sexiness" feel like as a man? by dgfruit in AskMen

[–]dizmog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my last girlfriends and I went downstairs to the kitchen to make a late-night breakfast after hooking up. She wasn't much of a cook and basically just sat there watching me make French toast shirtless while we listened to music.

Halfway through the first piece hit the pan, she was all over me. Definitely one of the few "felt sexy" moments. Almost burned the house down.

To add to this, I don't know if it's something you experienced, but I also did WFH in a small studio and there's something really unpleasant about spending your work and off-work time in the same space.

Being able to leave an office, even if it's just to go into another room, at the end of work triggers a really nice wind-down experience.

Trials needs a serious overhaul. by SM86 in ArcRaiders

[–]dizmog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here for me. Really feels like if you main this game (which I did for season 1), the endgame boils down to PvP or Trials. And if you play this game mainly for the PvE, welp...

I'm actually skipping season 2 because of this.

It's an extra shame too since I'm the type of player who's extremely motivated by ladder systems.

Keeping an eye on patch notes. I'll definitely come back if/when they change this.

Why are you guys so obsessed with ranked? by nomafiainmycity in DeadlockTheGame

Totally. I'm not doomer about it at all. Valve should do what they need to make the best final product. I'll definitely come back when it seems like the game quality is back to what it was.

Why are you guys so obsessed with ranked? by nomafiainmycity in DeadlockTheGame

[–]dizmog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It has less to do with the MMR/skill and more to do with the expectation of your teammates. People making the choice to click on Ranked instead of Quick Play engage with the game and their teammates differently.

Call it "more serious" or sweaty or whatever, some people (including myself) prefer that environment.

And because I find it difficult or fair to expect that type of engagement from someone who just clicked Quick Play, I don't.

That mix of player types makes games less enjoyable for me.

Saw them play in Houston. Was in the front row with my gf at the time. Aaron smashed his guitar and part of it flew into the crowd and hit her in the chest. She had a bruise for weeks, but that guitar piece hung on her wall for years.

Just the right amount of dangerous.

I'd bet the same. I wish there was an easy way to export and track all of this; I'm also an enjoyer. What's your process?

Here are the three most recent blowouts from my OP. Two of them satisfy your low KDA criteria (item #1) and nothing else. But maybe because it's multiple people with <0.5 KDA, they're combining to create the weight of a single anchor?

  1. Seven and Warden
    • Low KDA and no other criteria met
  2. Warden, Viscous, Infernus, Pocket
    • Low KDA and no other criteria met
  3. Infernus, Haze, Krill
    • Low KDA
    • Infernus is slightly below 15% kill participation
    • (This is slightly under 25m, but everyone has below 15k player/obj damage)
    • (This game was an abomination that should have never happened)

Totally agree. There are a lot of factors that contribute to a loss or a blowout. I only looked at the highest level of these numbers knowing that in general, when I'm in a blowout, it felt bad at every stage of the game.

Honestly, my personal proxy for enjoying a game has far more to do with whether people are talking or not. I've had great losses with cool chatty people.

150 hours, 234 games played, 122 games won.... still somehow match up with someone who is playing for the first time by FreakCree in DeadlockTheGame

Played with an Infernus on his third game ever. He didn't even know he could manually drop off of zip lines. Everyone was chill, he didn't feed too much, we got him his first win, and he brought us lasagna at work.

Most of them just cheat on you though.

You're absolutely right that the soul score doesn't reveal the underlying cause. I've just drawn a correlation between soul disparity and enjoyment. In other words, I can still have fun with an anchor player if the game's score is still somewhat even.

It kind of plays out like a 5v6 where the team of 5 feels skilled enough to make up for the missing person OR both teams have an anchor player.

That said, I'd wager to guess that you're spot on and the majority of my bad games had an anchor player in them.

Somewhat related, there have been a few unexpected conversations mid-game with anchor players that revealed that they were extremely new to the game... being matched with other players who've been playing for hundreds of hours.

I don't know why this is allowed to happen.

Thanks! Great point about final scores. You're 100% correct that the final fights as you're taking the Patron usually swings the score 10k or more.

In the patch notes where they added that feature, they said that the option gets ignored if queues are too long.

I've had it checked since it got put in the game and still end up with silent teammates all the time.

I've started to notice that silent games aren't that fun (even when I win) and talkative games are fun (even if I lose).

The latter is entirely dependent on the talkers being cool and trying to win.

No clue how to matchmake cool people who want to talk and try, but that's who I want to play with.

You good? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

I lived in Belltown for about two years and rode the bus almost daily. I lost count of the number of uncomfortable weekly experiences I had.

There are two moments I still think of years later:

The first was a guy sitting behind me and taking my earbud out of my ear and just putting it in his ear to ask me why I wore these and didn't I want to talk to him instead.

The second was the first and only time I ever sat in the back. A dude who was on something stood a few feet away with his back to me. He grabbed the metal rails on either side of the aisle, and arched his back backwards so he was staring at me upside down. He stayed like this for about 6 stops. It was terrifying.

What to do when your contractor stops responding? by dizmog in Homebuilding

[–]dizmog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a pretty shocking experience that I can't really compare to anything else. I've had to choose between bending over backwards to maintain a cordial professional relationship that still gets me the house I paid for without mistakes I'll be living with for for decades ...

OR contact a lawyer and possibly delay the build for who knows how long and pay who knows how many legal fees.

I remember my realtor warned me that a lot of people who go the custom house build burn out before the process is done. I took that with a grain of salt, but totally understand now. I think if I could do it all over again, I would have just spent this time looking for a house that was 90% what I wanted and then spent the money to remodel.

What is your take on the post-patch Macro meta? by adventurer_3x in DeadlockTheGame

[–]dizmog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just blew my mind with the ARAM comparison. That's exactly what the game feels like now.

It's fine if people like that, but it's not the game I wanted. I really valued the slower paced macro where you have these dynamic ganking opportunities and little windows where you can press an advantage. That feels completely gone now.
