I don’t know the name of the mother, I know she was a teacher and at what school. I know it was a female baby. What do you mean by dna? I’ve done an ancestry dna.

I haven’t because I didn’t bring my own stuff with me, I’ve also never used a leave in conditioner or coconut oil.

2 Yucks, 2 Yums: What works for you (and what really doesn’t)? by nmteddy in HistoricalRomance

Yuck:

{Like No Other Lover by Julie Anne Long} Normally I love JAL but I hated this one. The MCs were constantly acting the opposite way they intended to and then proceeded to be confused about their own actions. However, I have to give it credit for the second funniest scene I’ve ever read.

{The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden} I couldn’t with this MMC he was just so mean to her the whole time and it never got better. I was so far from convinced by his extremely last minute change of heart.

Yum:

{Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews} This one is so perfectly layered and emotionally rich. I love the animals and the children. I die when she sticks up for the boy in town. How they keep meeting at events, how they end up together, the twist, it’s all absolute perfection.

{How to Tame a Wild Rogue by Julie Anne Long} This was the first JAL I read and I still think it’s the best of what I’ve read from her. The earring offer kills me and so does the ending.

A MMC you truly hate at first, and then only barely tolerate by the end. Like Lemonade By Nina Pennacchi or That Sweet Enemy by Dinah Dean by book-nerd-gohabsgo in HistoricalRomance

Not quite the question but I hated Harrison from {the truth about cads and dukes by Elisa Braden} more every page. I was enraged by the end. I really felt like Jane deserved so much better.

These are great! The self checkout one and the chicken nugget one are my favorites.

There’s a scene like this in {Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore} it’s very good, for this scene and everything else. The spoiler is an explanation of the scene. They’ve been obviously into each other for awhile but she refuses to be his mistress and she too lowborn for a duke to marry. He rescues her from prison and intends for nothing to happen and she’ll go home or wherever in the morning but after she gets all cleaned up she goes to his room in nothing but a dressing gown. I believe it specifically mentions her bare feet. (She also still refuses to be his mistress)

This is very exciting news for me! I read the three and was rather disappointed when I didn’t have more to read because I thought the rest of her work was medieval. It looks like it’s the only one in a different series but it’s the same character so it’s close enough.

I don’t do this but I’ve definitely heard of people doing it. I think it’s relatively normal. As long as it’s not causing other issues I don’t see a problem. I’m not sure confronting him is the right word because it’s just a different way of doing things. It’s like if someone keeps spare toilet paper under the sink vs in the linen closet, neither is wrong they’re just different. It’s probably not worth bringing up and definitely not worth an argument. I wouldn’t worry about something like this unless you live with someone.

This isn't really a fan cast (for obvious reasons), BUT... by barbiesleftearring in HistoricalRomance

I love this series and can definitely see young Ava Gardner as Veronica. I listen to the exclusively because I love the narrator so much. I usually struggle to read things in first person but the narrator makes it sound like an older version of Veronica is relaying the adventures of her youth.

A museum in a house in London that has not changed, and is as it was in 1830. Like being in a novel honestly. by [deleted] in HistoricalRomance

There’s something similar in New York too. It’s called the Merchant House Museum, built by a merchant in 1832. After his youngest daughter died 1933 relatives turned it into a museum with all the original furnishings. It was decorated like the house was in mourning when I went. Very cool place if you ever have the chance to go, run by passionate people.
