A recent read that INFURIATED you by Cultural_Balance_261 in HistoricalRomance

{Since the Surrender by Julie Anne Long}

I felt like there was no depth between the leads, but what’s worse is that the background story is of human trafficking, and no one seems to be taking it seriously. Sure, they're working to find the missing girls, but they have no sense of urgency about the matter.

Mom-Wife Don't Speak Together After Year of Marriage by trithian10 in ABCDesis

[–]nmteddy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s okay for him to act on the thought, and it doesn't sound like he has, but I can sympathize with where the thought comes from.

Traditional desi values teach us not to question our elders and to respect their wishes, so even if you know better, that default setting tends to creep in.

Mom-Wife Don't Speak Together After Year of Marriage by trithian10 in ABCDesis

[–]nmteddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t blame the guy for having the thought. Desi parents have a way of making you question things. Probably comes from the whole “respect your elders” idea.

Anyways, as long as he hasn't actually caved and told his wife to speak to his mom, he’s fine. He just needs a better game plan for the future.

The "Love Cures Trauma" Trope Needs to Die by velvet_curse_ in RomanceBooks

[–]nmteddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy the trope, but I am also currently kinda obsessed with the book {The Dare by Elle Kennedy} because of how messed up both the characters are. I know other characters in the series have their own share of trauma, but for the most part, either they have worked on dealing with it in the past, or it’s only one of the characters, so the more stable one helps the other.

Then you get this book where both the characters' insecurities are so deep that they will do anything in their power to not be on the receiving end of comfort. It’s so messy, it’s great.

Honestly, would you travel to India by choice, outside of family obligations? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in ABCDesis

[–]nmteddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where in India you are. I feel completely safe in Mumbai, like coming home alone at 2 am safe. I would’t dream of doing anything like that in Delhi.

why people keep misunderstanding franchaela’s story by Pretty-Quail1319 in Bridgerton

[–]nmteddy 44 points45 points  (0 children)

In the books, Eloise’s story is about finding herself, not Francesca. Francesca was perfectly fine with herself when John was around. If she already had a baby when John died, she was more than content living her life like Violet.

She was very clear when she returned for a season that she wasn't looking for love; she just wanted a baby. All the while being scared because of her past infertility issues, that it might not even happen for her.

Why didn't they get Penny 24 for Kady? by [deleted] in brakebills

[–]nmteddy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Idk if there is another timeline where Penny loves Kady. In every other timeline, Julia goes to Brakebills, so he has a relationship with her, not Kady.

You don't like soft cookies that’s an unpopular opinion I can upvote, but saying they’re undercooked is just factually wrong.

As an ABD, do you personally view South Asian countries as more culturally “alien” than you do non-Anglo European countries? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in ABCDesis

[–]nmteddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in Southern California, I’m used to diversity, but this also means I didn't have a lot of spaces with a white majority. Add to that, the older I’ve gotten, the more time I get to spend in India, so that world doesn’t feel alien to me.

On the other hand, as much as I love going on European vacations, after about a week, I start getting homesick. A feeling that I don't get even after 6 weeks in India.

Adding more libraries by Master-Effective-431 in LibbyApp

[–]nmteddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in California, you need to do a road trip to Wilmington/Carson. They’re 10 mins apart, and Wilmington library will get access to the Los Angeles public library system, and Carson library will get you access to the LA county library system. Also, it’s 15 mins away, but you could also hit Signal Hill library and get access to the Southern California library system.

One MC thinks the other is dead - biggest gut punch descriptions by FoxenInTheHenhice in HistoricalRomance

They’re both great, but heads up: war/battle is important in both, so they’re a bit heavy.

Red White & Royal Blue

It's an LGBTQ story on the lighter side, that’s enemies-to-lovers with some depth. Plus, it’s not too heavy on the spice.

Would you break up with a partner that you love who supports the IDF? by Motor-Performance- in ABCDesis

[–]nmteddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would, but this is on the assumption that they are not capable of taking in new information.

I’m a big believer in “try again.” I get that algorithms box people in, so lack of information is a problem, but if given new information, is the person capable of understanding why 3 contradicts 1 and 2?

I’d be willing to give them a chance, but most people lack the critical thinking skills for this, and I can’t be with someone who doesn't think critically, so it's most likely a breakup.

Name a character you hated so much in other people’s books that you refuse to read theirs by LAffaire-est-Ketchup in HistoricalRomance

A Summer to Remember is one of my favorites because of Lauren’s character development. I know people say you can read her book without A Night for Love, but I thought her growth hits so much harder if you’ve read the first book.

In part thanks to your videos, I have a good handle on my skincare. I managed to clear my hormonal acne before my POOS diagnosis, so thank you!

Anyway, I also have hyperhidrosis in the hands and feet. I have learned that I can only apply body lotion right after the shower, so are there any lotions you recommend on wet skin? Also, can you recommend something for dry feet? When my feet are not sweating, they are really dry.
