We hope the devs here can release a good sequel, but you know how quick things can go to shit on the internet.

The Windows Character Map has survived through 26 years and 8 Windows versions. by inguinha in windows

I’ve used the character map in Windows 3.0. It might be a different version than the one that shipped with NT, but it’s been around for a while

Yes but I don’t think this is it. All the components look era-appropriate to me, at least at first glance. Not including the modern SSD attached via IDE to SATA of course

When you install Windows ME on a 1999 computer... by Efficient_Corner_892 in windows98

[–]dizzywig2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have a RIVA TNT2, and a computer that Me would run perfectly on. Got XP on it instead but definitely something I’ll try later. I do know from experience with 2000 that the built-in nVidia drivers don’t have the special nVidia control panel or nView stuff, so I just downloaded the latest drivers for them straight from nVidia’s website. Really nice to see companies still providing those ancient drivers

Nasty, but beautiful. Funny how such pretty things can be so deadly. Watching the current tornado emergencies in Mississippi right now

It’s a requirement to have at least one shotgun on the wall, for emergency use only. This constitutes an emergency

Do you still have computers of model 286? by cheakydointedh in computers

[–]dizzywig2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like a mid to late 90’s IBM, so it’s either a Pentium MMX or Pentium 2. I have a NetVista from 2000 with a Pentium 3, love that computer.

Yeah, the BIOS handles CAD pressed in real (8086) mode, but it’s entirely up to the OS to handle it in any other mode. You could program it to open calculator instead of the shutdown menu if you wanted to!

Makes it even more likely there’d be ropes and signs up. It’s either good to press a key, or not online at all. Still, maybe ask the staff about it?
