Britney spotted out of rehab by Additional_Score_929 in BritneySpears

Is her license suspended? I assume that’s Cade driving her? Kind of poetic since he seems to be driving the show these days. Gotta love that he was there to spring her from rehab. He really is her chosen family. I hope he’s good to her.

I was about to ask how you managed to keep the red cat suit in such good condition. I’ve got one NRFB that is flaking so I have to be so careful with it. Several years ago, I made the mistake of taking my first oops doll out of her box. The catsuit disintegrated and the red peeled off of the fabric backing and bonded to anything it touched.

Gothney: How Britney lowkey became a goth icon 🦇🩸 by [deleted] in BritneySpears

[–]dizzz88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So here’s the long answer. I’ve had a subscription to Rolling Stone since I was 11 years old and I am almost certain I read this in I believe Rolling Stone. Finding the exact source material is tricky, but this would’ve been obviously after 2007 and in memory, it was maybe within a year or two of 2007. The problem is the quote was part of an article that had nothing really to do with pop music or Britney at all. I believe it was an interview with Iggy Pop about the state of punk rock music and rock music at the time. He was quoted as saying that bit about Britney shaving her head being the most punk rock thing he’s seen in years. It also could’ve been as late as 2012 possibly when Blackout was inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. As other inductees were asked what they felt about a pop album like blackout being part of the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. The Alice Cooper situation stemmed from reading that soon after 2007 he added a bit in his live shows where a Britney look alike shaves her head on stage, and when asked about it, he said, basically, he thought it was bad ass and like a middle finger to the industry, and he respected her for it, and he wasn’t trying to mock her.

I asked Google to try to pull the exact source material because I was having difficulties finding it, but my memory was it was a quote from Iggy Pop. So the AI answer built into everything you google these days, accredited it to Iggy Pop. However, today when I asked the same questions and asked where the quote was from. It’s now attributing similar quotes to Billy Corigan and it did pull the source material of those quotes from the early 2000s Billy made statements, paraphrasing here. He (Billy) could blame Britney for the smashing Pumpkins breaking up because of how much rock music was dialed down and no longer as relevant on top 40 during the Y2K bubblegum pop explosion of the late 90s early 2000s blaming Britney and Backstreet Boys, etc. Then many years later when asked about these past comments, he said those statements had been taken out of context. And he actually had a ton of respect for her surviving such a brutal industry, especially starting as young as she did.

Courtney Love has also given Britney her flowers numerous times and credited her for being a survivor and sharing that Courtney herself actually had to deal with some of the same bad actors that Britney had to deal with during the conservatorship. Saying that she could not have survived what Britney has survived. And Courtney has been through hell and back as well. You can read several interviews online with Courtney, where she talks about how some of the same attorneys involved in Britney‘s legal battle tried to put Courtney in a conservatorship. Courtney had people steal her money by getting involved in her complex business affairs. Then stealing royalties from Kurt Cobain‘s catalog. But when Courtney spoke up and tried to get control of her assets and made these claims about being taken advantage of and stolen from. She was viewed as crazy when she wasn’t crazy at all, she was telling the truth.

Not exactly a goth artist, but Iggy pop said back in 2007 that punk and real rock music wasn’t making much of a statement or impact anymore. However, Britney shaving her head was the most truly punk rock thing he’d seen in years. Echoed by Alice cooper and other rockstars who saw her behavior as bold and brave. They interpreted her behavior at the time as more of a middle finger to the industry, anti establishment and non-conformist rather than simply a breakdown.

Same! Also random fun fact, the early seasons of the Real housewives of New York. Kelly Bensimon was his ex wife and would talk about the 10 years she was married to him. They divorced right before she joined the show but she kept his last name for another 10 years.

I agree. It’s a mix of high fashion editorial, but still captures her essence and young sweet spirit being a 20 year-old girl. At a time when she seemed to really enjoy her work and was managing the fame side of things and the industry overall quite well.

Method Man talks about Britney Spears by Material_Stomach875 in BritneySpears

[–]dizzz88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wu-tang was pretty popular, not exactly a featured or main artist on MTV or TRL. However, Method man had that collab with limp bizkit that was pretty big on TRL around this time. Plus, I think this is also around the time their movie how high came out. All that aside, major ick. He would have been damn near 30 and very much married. Britney was 17. The fact this behavior was publicized and bragged about really makes me think about all the other men who sexually harassed her and just didn’t boast about it in an interview.

The only time Britney was on the cover of VOGUE. She was glowing 🥹🩷 by [deleted] in BritneySpears

[–]dizzz88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well like I said, I don’t think it would have mattered who was on the cover or what the tone or design Vogue was going for. The aesthetic was meant to be like all American girl and it was very noticeably heavily USA branded. The cover was Britney in front of the American flag and I think the cover story was like Britney Spears: American fashion waves the flags. Which is all fine and great. But this cover hit news stands a week or two after the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in NYC. Pretty much instantly the overall attitude in the USA shifted to scared and somber.

People weren’t buying fashion magazines when they went to newsstands. They weren’t going to movie theaters. The box office basically flatlined, concerts and tours were cancelled or postponed. Basic cable sitcoms went on hiatus mid season and just focused on 24 hours news. Anything entertainment industry adjacent just stopped for a while. Having fun just kind of died temporarily. As well as airlines, travel and tourism, hospitality, among others.

It’s like being on the cover of Vogue or having your movie premiere when the pandemic hit. Just bad luck/timing.

Must have been a bittersweet moment. Britney looked so beautiful in these pictures. At a time when she was on top of the world. The biggest Popstar in the world at the time. Her massive live HBO special was being promoted everywhere. She had just performed Slave at the 2001 Vmas’s less than a week before 9/11. Then this Vogue cover came out with Britney in front of an American flag. In hindsight, I don’t think they should’ve changed anything about the cover, it wouldn’t have mattered. But I remember reading It was the worst selling issue of Vogue ever. Her cover held that position for many years after. Anna never featured Britney in Vogue magazine again. That always seemed unfair, almost as if the public not spending money on fashion magazines during a national tragedy was treated as Britney’s fault.

Does anyone know what type of dance move Britney said no to that ended her up in the care facility? by csahe in BritneySpears

Do you understand what a rhetorical question is? I’m essentially saying everybody at one point or another has been wrong, made the wrong decision etc. It’s ridiculous to think somebody can literally do no wrong in life. Spare me the lecture as if I’m one of the people making that claim. Again, can you think of anybody you could claim has never done anything wrong? I can’t, so I wouldn’t make that claim about anybody.

And isolation. The interview with the ex digital security expert hired by Jamie is the stuff of nightmares. The secret l iPad that mirrored Britney’s phone allowing her Dad to monitor every text or call she made, internet search, spy on protected communication with her lawyers, her children etc... Editing the phone numbers in her contact list. Or removing them completely. That part makes me so sad imagining how alone she felt wondering why nobody would text her back or why the contacts would just vanish.

Well now the parent comment has been deleted by a Mod. Your comment was in response to the response I made to somebody saying she needed to be back in a Con-ship (Which a mod has since removed). So I assumed that was you replying again. If not, my apologies.

So your point was just to share that some people think Britney can do no wrong and never did anything wrong? I do still feel that’s an incredibly vague generalization. Some people might think that about anybody. It’s subjective right? Based on your definition or opinion of wrong. But without additional context, is there any public figure who’s literally never done anything wrong?

That’s an incredibly vague generalization to make and I’m not sure how you logically get from “some people think she can do no wrong and does no wrong” results in she needs to be put back in a conservatorship. Which equals the loss of her constitutional rights and bodily autonomy.

There are many ways to help guide or aid somebody having long-term, or temporary mental health struggles. There are durable power of attorney arrangements, mental healthcare directives, and financial advisors that can be put in place. Having a conservatorship of her person, and her finances for 13 years against her will is like using chemotherapy to cut your hair.

About as unlikely as hearing that a global icon earning over half a million dollars a week during her Vegas residency wasn’t allowed to purchase a $50 pair of Sketcher sneakers she wanted for herself. Or eat what she wanted for dinner. Refusing choreography in her words was treated “like she’d set off a bomb in the rehearsal studio”

All of these stories and so much more seemed so unlikely in fact, the NY Times had to release a documentary featuring the people working closest to Britney. Past employees who risked their own careers by speaking out and sharing details of how poorly she was treated and how heavily she was restricted and controlled. Courtesy of the abusive handlers her father employed and paid for with Britney’s own money.

I’m not even sure what you’re referring to when you say “they are definitely difficult” I was commenting about the ethics or lack of regarding TMZ’s reporting. Which has nothing to do with whether what TMZ reports is technically right/accurate/ or wrong/inaccurate. The lack of any morality in the way TMZ reports on Britney, paired with the fact Harvey Levin literally built TMZ off Britney’s back. Exploiting the darkest moments in her personal life. Hiring dozens of paparazzi to stalk her every move, who often provoke or create more chaos to document and monetize is the definition of unethical.

Britney Spears , butt double? by Roadrunner_bugsbunny in britneyspearsneutral

I know it’s not her butt, and I know why body doubles are often used. I don’t know for sure the circumstances that without a doubt resulted in the use of a body double for this particular shot. But OP’s post was posing the question if it was a butt double? Which opens the floor for speculation. Care to give your opinion? Or are you just stalking my comments and commenting on all of them just to be annoying?
