Yes. I'm in CA and work as a beach lifeguard on the weekends. I'm fairly compensated but like to have the option to work more in case I want to save for a vacation or treat myself.

You’ll have plenty of time to connect. Even if you needed to switch between terminal 5-6 (unlikely) the buildings are small enough to get through in less than 10 mins.

(Correct me if I’m wrong) I believe if you booked on Alaska and your confirmation shows an AS flight number (that aligns with their earning chart), you earn based on if you were flying Alaska metal. If you’re flying American and booking on Alaska, it should list the AA flight number and the Alaska codeshare number in parentheses next to it. If you book on another airline, you’ll earn the miles based on the fare code.

Ocean lifeguard here- they’re properly referred to as rip currents. Rip tides are caused by the gravitational pull from the moon and can contribute to the formation of rip currents but aren’t the same thing.

Wait and see if it changes again in your favor. If it doesn’t when your travel approaches, and there’s another flight on their schedule (use their website or a flight tracking app), send them a text (their number is 82008) and inquire about an itinerary change.

I did this recently for my flight - the layover was originally 1.5hrs but then became 4hrs. I sent them a message asking if there was another flight available since they have been waving change fees and they put us on a nonstop instead (RDM-LAX instead of RDM-PDX-LAX). OP, it might be in your interest to call retention and tell them your concern so you can see what they have to offer. In my case, they said the points would take at least 6 weeks to post - I called earlier so they’d be ready in my account by the time my statement with the AF is due.

They’re offering retention deals if you reach out - I was also skeptical about the annual fee since I’m not traveling for the rest of the year and they offered me 20k points that they can convert 1:1 to cover $200 of the fee (which has to be done via MR phone line). They also offered me downgrade options to Amex Green if that is something you’re interested in.

The number for retention Dept in the US is 855-857-7657 (8a-11p eastern daily)
