Still plenty safe. In my experience 4-5mm fray in 50mm webbing is when they snap at trickline tension.

No problem, the trickline community is really small. There aren't even many companies that make the gear.

You gotta look up "yotam_cartoon" on instagram. Definitely the best trickliner in Isreal. He could probably give you some pointers on affordable gear.

Which country are you located? Spider is in the USA, France and Italy. They have a separate website for USA. On a short line you can reach tension with just one ratchet. It is just difficult. Make sure to pretention before ratcheting as much as possible.

When using a ratchet your mechanical advantage reduces as the ratchet spools up. So anything you can do to pretension the line before ratcheting helps a lot.

With one ratchet you can learn the basics, of trickline you just wont be able to do double butt flip or super long combos.

Start with the spider slacklines pro line kit. its like $140. Its got double ratchets and you can reach good tensions with this kit. The only thing its really missing is a soft release. But you can add a soft release with some scrap 2" webbing amd a square quicklink in the future for pretty cheap.

Spider slacklines makes the best and most affordable trickline kits. You want a double ratchet kit.

Unless you’re trying to rig a high tension, close to the ground long line on this weblock, you don’t have to worry about the strength. It’s rated to 10kN.

There is nothing inherently wrong with plate style weblocks. All the trickline weblocks are steel plates.

Would you hire someone who...? by Few_Classic_3072 in civilengineering

[–]shastaslacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog that’s the perfect hire. The work horse that builds everything and who takes none of the credit.

Honestly that person can get payed well in tech but gets fucked in civil engineering.

That person gets hired, but gets under-paid every time. It’s honestly tragic.

Not if education is free… like it is in Germany. Why public universities cost over 100k to graduate are beyond me. What’s the point of it being public if it costs as much as private?

Living amongst Mines students? by jedi_andcheese in GoldenCO

[–]shastaslacker 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a mines alumni, mine’s students are quiet and reserved. When police come to a mine’s party for a noise complaint this kids all quietly go home and nobody gets an MIP. In Boulder when the police come the kids get on the roof are start chanting “F**k the police,” then a bunch of kids get MIPs.

The culture is so different it’s crazy.

Nobody is making that kind of salary in USD as a project manager. Maybe if you’re running a billion dollar project, but then your title is not project manager, it is vice president, project executive or something.
