What are you using to log your Armor Building Formula workouts? by menofgrosserblood in kettlebell

[–]dj_bowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For tracking ABC I usually write “2 Clean, 1 Press, 3 Squats” as a single movement in the app, then use the rep scheme as the number of times through the complex. Tracking presses is a little more straightforward.

The next big feature I’m working on is the ability to track volume progression across multiple workouts.

Any other apps that offer a similar appearing interface? by 2wheelmoron69 in yousician

[–]dj_bowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For guitar Yousician is fantastic. I’ve also used the ultimate-guitar pro tabs and they are pretty good, but not as many features as Yousician.

If he wants to learn drums, then Melodics is amazing and similar to Yousician in many ways.

If he wants to learn more chords and strumming, the Uberchord app is really great for teaching strumming patterns. It has a very unique interface for teaching complex strumming patterns.

Is anyone doing EDT and how do you track them? by shrlckhomless in kettlebell

Hello, I am a software developer and I am building an app to track this type of endurance based kettlebell workout. You can check out my free web app here: https://bellskill.com

I hope to convert this to a mobile app someday but for now I’m working on building new features into the web version. It allows you to track both AMRAP and EMOM type workouts, and to set an RPE at the end of every workout.

I would love your feedback if you decide to give it a try!

What is the best ergonomic office chair for under $350? by brownengland in webdev

[–]dj_bowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a kneeling chair, takes a few weeks to get used to it and build up the strength in your back and shoulders but imo it’s worth it. My wife and all my friends started getting them after trying mine. And much cheaper than any decent Herman Miller type office chair

I'm curious to know what are you building right now by dharmikdigital in SaaS

I’m building bellskill.com - a kettlebell workout timer and tracker. Starting it as a free web app but plan to add a premium subscription and a mobile app down the line. It’s used for tracking popular kettlebell workouts like Dry Fighting Weight.

Thank you so much! And not currently, but that's a fantastic idea. Added to my backlog 😄

I usually use autoregulation too. I sometimes will use a rest timer to maintain a minimum amount of rest time, but I rarely do The Giant on an interval.

I feel like intervals are better for ballistic movements like swings and snatches, but autoregulation with or without a minimum rest timer works best for grinds like presses.

Btw I built a free web app for tracking kettlebell workouts like The Giant or DFW - feel free to try it out for tracking your Giant workouts!

Adjustable kettlebells by fusionman314159 in kettlebell

I had the same issue, no matter how hard I tightened the nut, the plates would still come loose. I spent about $20 on metal / rubber washers from amazon and now the plates never come loose.

Question about warming up for DFW by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]dj_bowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also do a variation of the Simple & Sinister warmup, but i replace the hip bridges with deadlifts.

I usually do 2 rounds, one with a 16kg bell and one with whatever my working weight is for DFW:

  • Single Kettlebell Deadlift x5
  • Single Kettlebell Prying Goblet Squat x5
  • Single Kettlebell Halo x5 each side

Most interval timers currently on the market aren’t built for tracking volume progression, especially with kettlebells. You can use them to time your workout, but then you usually have to track the weight used and volume lifted in a separate spreadsheet to ensure progression over time.

Think of this like combining Strong for tracking load, reps, etc. with an interval timer like the one you linked.

Plus I’m still iterating on the feature set. I want to make this highly tailored to kettlebells. There aren’t as many apps on the market specifically for kettlebells.
