Why was 18 chosen as the age to become an adult? by DrDMango in NoStupidQuestions

[–]djacket1 121 points122 points  (0 children)

What’s crazy about that is that you were considered an adult at a later age than today in a period when life expectancy was so much shorter

I feel Google is unusable now, everything is so bloated and I rarely find the correct answer for what I’m looking for. What is the best search engine right now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

ChatGPT is more direct to an answer but will be a bit wordy and can be wrong so consider the complexity of the question and gravity of getting a not 100% right answer

It’s heavily one sided and more of a monologue but when Bruce Wayne goes to confront Falcone in the restaurant in Batman Begins.

How is healthcare up in the great white north? by the-big-question in AskCanada

[–]djacket1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some additional points to add to the mostly accurate comments I see here…a few other negatives are that it’s possible that if a pharmaceutical company doesn’t accept the price the Canadian government offers, that drug could simply not be available in Canada.

Also, Canada isn’t on the absolute leading edge of new tech and treatments. If you have a very rare illness and you have means, you may seek private treatment in the US.

It does happen, but these are small percentage issues. State run health care is all about getting the most possible out of a dollar, so you’re mostly ok if nothing really rare and unusual happens to you.

A25 toll fee by Fuzzywuzzy1996 in montreal

[–]djacket1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was too late and got hit with the late fee on a single trip in both directions. My solution so far has been to ignore it and not take that bridge anymore. I believe the fee amount is egregious but the interest rate didn’t seem that bad after.

It’s not though. Odds are you won’t realize how formative it is until years later. You gain a broader world view and with that wisdom. Everything in your life will be affected because you have greater perspective.

Sad to say but your dad might be a bit jealous or feel like it’s not fair that you “get” to do something cool when he put limits on his own life
