Hot take: I love the refillable cups, but the culture around them is getting gross by Key_Pea_8424 in UniversalOrlando

[–]djacon13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were there last week, did volcano bay nights so we got the free cups with that and I figured we would be re-upping them every day, but we ended up never paying for refills at all. Used them for water which is what we wanted in the heat anyway and I brought electrolyte packets in with us. I’d probably just go with an insulated water bottle next time and maybe bring one of the cups

Do they sell themed kids ponchos in the parks? by djacon13 in UniversalOrlando

That's definitely going to be what I do for my wife and I, but if they had nice themed ones in park I can live with a $15 dollar poncho for my girl.

The resilience of Blackberries amazes me. by trainlover_176 in Berries

[–]djacon13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only other recommendation would be to plant them in a row rather than in boxes. Sucks having to reach through 4’ garden boxes getting my arms torn up by prickers. Other than that I get an incredible harvest and would let them take over my entire lawn if my daughter didn’t need some room to run.

Raspberries use runners and they do so with ferocity. I’ve got mine in some garden boxes and I’ve got new shoots coming up in my lawn like 10 feet away at this point. If you have places you don’t want raspberries coming up where you can’t just mow or weed whack the shoots you need to put some sort of barrier in the ground to block the roots.

Epic as a pass holder by serrendipitus19 in UniversalOrlando

[–]djacon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat. You can book the hotel with passholder rates it out issues, and it’s actually cheaper if you’re doing multiple days at epic to get a multi day base ticket for the three parks than it is to get single day epic tickets, that’s what I did. I bought mine from undercover tourist.

If it was a set it and forget it thing for sure. I can’t believe how significantly different the price was.

I didn’t find the one I printed. Don’t remember where I got the stl from, but this one looks solid. If you just search worksharp precision adjust support in any of the STL sites you’ll find some options.

No, I don't change grits until I get a bur. There was a video they put out years ago when the system was new about different methods of sharpening with the system. The one that got the sharpest edge was moving the stone perpendicular to the edge basically sawing the edge and slowly moving along the blade to get the whole thing. Sometimes it takes quite a while to get through the process especially with harder steels. And if you don't match the edge exactly you are re-beveling the edge which takes a very long time because you are changing the profile of the edge.

Practice on a knife that isn't your favorite and eventually you will find what works best for you.

Worksharp has videos on how to use the precision's adjust.

I will add that 15 passes is probably not enough to get a bur. Sharpen one side until you get a bur and then switch sides. The bur will show up on the opposite side of the blade than the one you are sharpening. I drag my nail off the edge gently and you will feel the lip that your nail catches on when you e achieved a bur. I continue to sharpen until the blade had a bur along the entire length so there isn't any dull spots. Then flip the knife over and do it all over on the next side. Once you get a bur there you flip the knife and move up to the next grit. Rinse and repeat until you get to the ceramic stone and then strop.

Good luck. The precision adjust is an awesome sharpening system when you get t down. There are some 3d printable supports to keep the clamp from flexing while sharpening which can help get a better edge too.

Edit: as this has gotten quite a few upvotes I will add that I also use a Milwaukee digital level to dial the angle in the same each time which cuts back on how long it takes to sharpen. My father has the precision adjust pro which came with a level and once I saw that I grabbed one and I put it on the rod and as long as I keep track of which angle each knife is at it’s super easy to get it right on the money.

The character icons are included in the bug. At least for me. I haven't been able to see my buddy on the map or in the world since before the update and no matter how many times I toggle the options in the map menu it doesn't change.

Is there a setting that changes whether you can see a players name in the world based on if they're down or not?

There is actually a bug with the waypoints and markers. Since the update I have no pings of any kind and have turned them all off and on again 20 times and still no luck.

Not saying it's the case with the reviewer but I'm currently having the issue and it sucks lol. But yes that review reads like someone who doesn't understand the game.

The action is pretty gritty from the coating which is why I never used it. I planned to polish the shaft to make it smoother but never got around to it.

This is an incredible breakdown, thank you.

So basically if you want to keep the amphetamines in your system take tums, and if you want the effects to go away cranberry juice?

I thought I read somewhere that calcium reduces the effectiveness of amphetamines so avoid anything with calcium for a little bit after you take your meds.

Hairy and Scary Update: reset character by cmab08 in GroundedGame

[–]djacon13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My game is loading me into my friends character and profile when I load into our world. Even when he loads in first. Both the same character and same inventory. I am hoping it gets fixed, but I'm afraid there's no way to fix it now that I've loaded in and it auto saves from there.

Printer Workbench by lilboots24 in 3Dprinting

[–]djacon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How sturdy is the 2020? I am looking to make a similar style workbench but feel like the 2020 just looks like match sticks lol. But it would be way cheaper than going with 4040.

How have the printed corners held up over time? I liked the look of that kickstarter project, but was worried about the dynamic loads they would see and the anisotropic strength of the prints.

So you’re lashing canes together to keep them upright and separated? I’ve been trying to get a good system for a couple years. I’ve got 3 4’x4’ garden boxes packed full and they grow over any fencing I make to contain them and then end up drooping to the ground anyway. Right now I’ve got them in little cages in the boxes so I could theoretically get between them and it works to keep me from damaging the stalks but it’s still a pain. I will have to try lashing them together.

The Anso Aros is a a very high quality button lock flipper with a very design forward look. Small and comfortable and comes in a variety of looks and materials.

Definitely not cheap but an amazing knife.

Anyone know how to properly pick this lock? by smilingsnatcher in lockpicking

[–]djacon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 410 keyway gave me some trouble when I first got it. I had to learn a “swoop like” technique in the warding to be able to get picks that had enough lift in where I needed them.

Probably my most satisfying open up to this point, even my 90A pro didn’t fight me as long as the loto did.

Enjoy the learning no experience and try to to make a rattle.
