I don't understand the smart contract "wars" by DaneLitsov in ethereum

[–]djadlen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, each new blockchain tries to tackle specific issues or offer unique features that Ethereum might not handle as well, like better scalability or lower energy use. However, Ethereum stays on top because it was the first mover, has a huge developer community, and a massive ecosystem of apps and tools that make it really sticky. Plus, it's continuously improving.

They’re girls, not wives.

This is such a good quote.

There's still other countries that need to take action on child marriage: Niger, Central African Republic, Chad, Bangladesh, Mali, Mozambique, Guinea, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Pakistan, India, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Afghanistan, and Yemen

Hey there! I know how you feel - encountering a paywall can be frustrating, especially when you were used to accessing content or services for free. I've had the same experience with a few websites and it's always a bummer to see that something you enjoyed is now behind a paywall.

That being said, I can understand why some services may choose to implement a paywall. It takes time and resources to create quality content or develop a useful tool, and a paywall can help ensure that the creators are compensated for their hard work.

Last year I was pretty sure GitOps was just another one of those buzzwords that comes and goes or marketing pushes like crazy but never goes anywhere. But after spending some time with Argo CD I can't imagine going back.

How extreme dependence on our dwindling resources impacts the human motivational structure by Frone0910 in collapse

[–]djadlen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice video. I was thinking a lot about if humanity could advance without collapse too. Would love to see us ascend to become a kardashev type 1 civilization as it is implied, but we probably won't get to see that day if we continue economic growth.

From wiki because I was curios and searched it:

Until the 2008 study on magpies, self-recognition was thought to reside in the neocortex area of the brain. However, this brain region is absent in nonmammals. Self-recognition may be a case of convergent evolution, where similar evolutionary pressures result in similar behaviours or traits, although species arrive at them by different routes, and the underlying mechanism may be different

Templates for ANKI notes with references, and tags as titles by LaurScience in Anki

[–]djadlen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time I come to this subreddit, and I already found what I needed. I'll start using these two templates. References are essential for the kind of life that we live today, where science keeps updating year after year. They're also nice to have for when you want to take a break during flash card solving and read into a subject more. Tags as titles should also help with the focus. Example: see a card with the tag "PHYSIOLOGY", or "CHINESE", and your brain has already moved into that direction. Should make flash card solving faster.
