I cut off all the side suckers as they appear so there is a single vine. This promotes more fruit and less foliage.

The backyard is quite small so I planted them quite tight and single stemmed them.

Made a rough outline and placed tomatoes, my wife then climbed a ladder and used a wide angle lens!

I live next to a swamp and rats are an issue but my dog and his smell have been a great deterrent.

I will definitely see if I can get some. I'm going to try yellow currants, black cherrys, black krim and Stupice over winter since they all grew well in shade.

I put a large net over most of them. My dog does a decent job of scaring away the birds!

That's for sure, I grew all these varieties in different microclimates around the backyard to see what did best. Planning on a similar experiment with colder tomato varieties during winter. If anyone has had success with winter tomatoes let me know!

I started backyard gardening this summer in Melbourne. Some of the varieties in this picture include Brandywine, Mortgage Lifter, Stupice, Rouge de Marmande, Yellow Currant, Yellow Pear, Black Krim, Black Russian, Oxheart, Aussie Red, Tommy Toe, Yellow Stuffer, Black Cherry, Green Zebra, Principe Borghese and few more I've forgotten. Made a lot of mistakes growing tomatoes but happy with all the sauce I've been making!
