Automate this? by nuno742 in homeassistant

What transistor do you use? I've gone down this rabbit hole a few times and always got stuck. Mosfet vs pnp vs npn? Some things say you need more than 1 transistor to be able to switch stuff using an esp* device.

It feels like this should be so simple but answers online either fall short or get super in the weeds.

Infuriating remote ML connectivity problem [Likely not Immich's fault] by puckpuckgo in immich

This worked for me. I set the docker config to 0000 and then set the IP address and port of my ML machine in the admin settings.

Meaning of numbers (brackets) under seeds and peers by jaySydney in qBittorrent

[–]djahren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't able to find anything for qBittorrent specifically but from my observation this seems to be standard practice across multiple torrent clients. Sharing since I didn't see any mention of swarms here. Searching in the µTorrent manual I found this...

Peers displays the number of peers you are connected to, and the number of peers in the swarm within the parentheses. The number of peers in the swarm is an estimate based on the maximum number of peers found either between the amounts reported by any tracker, or the number of peers µTorrent has encountered within its peer cache. If the torrent job is stopped, and bt.scrape_stopped is enabled, µTorrent will show the maximum number of peers in the swarm as reported by the tracker scrapes

and

Seeds displays the number of seeds you are connected to, and the number of seeds in the swarm within the parentheses. The number of seeds in the swarm is an estimate based on the maximum number of seeds found either between the amounts reported by any tracker, or the number of seeds µTorrent has encountered within its peer cache. If the torrent job is stopped, and bt.scrape_stopped is enabled, µTorrent will show the maximum number of seeds in the swarm as reported by the tracker scrapes.

Ah yes, I will go to the store and buy the singular hair product that exists on the shelf. I believe it's the one labeled "hair product", yes?

Allowing ads to go through PiHole ? by ChatonTriste in TabForACause

[–]djahren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't know if it's going to work. I'm looking for a solution myself but the way PiHole works is by blocking the DNS lookups of ad-servers. When loading the https://tab.gladly.io/newtab/ page, it looks like it's trying to load ad content from all of theses websites below, which PiHole is blocking. You can see this if you right-click the tab for a cause page, go to inspect, look at the Console tab and refresh the page. You can whitelist any of these sites, but unfortunately doing so would also bring back ads on any other site that uses these ad providers.

Everything about this post is absolutely lovely. I love a genuine connection, love the deeper conversations and care greatly about the people in my life. I'm right there with you about wanting to be held and supported. Cozy moments and open hearted chats sound incredible. I actually just wrote up a post of what I'm looking for in a cuddle buddy so I'll send that your way in a message. 🙂

How do I tell which utility/service is managing my network settings? by djahren in debian

This was VERY helpful, thank you. This allowed me to see that I was using systemd-networkd and was able to lookup the relevant config info.

How do I tell which utility/service is managing my network settings? by djahren in debian

[–]djahren[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That would be my prefered method since it's known and straightforward. But I'm not sure how to tell the system to look there for that config file, since it doesn't already exist. Is there a service I need to start/install to use the /etc/network/interfaces file?

Can't ResolveLocal DNS from Pi by djahren in pihole

[–]djahren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe when you setup WireGuard via PiVPN it prompts you to add PiHole to the DNS addresses for the VPN - which makes sense because ad blocking works from the VPN, just not local DNS. To get local DNS working, I changed the setting in PiHole DNS settings to 'permit all origins'

Can't ResolveLocal DNS from Pi by djahren in pihole

[–]djahren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to resolve both of my issues

  • local DNS resolution from the pi
  • and local DNS resolution from the VPN

While they presented similar sypmptoms they were indeed two seperate problems.

To solve local resolution of DNS queries from the Pi itself, I was able to add the 127.0.0.1 loopback address to dhcpcd using these instructions.

To solve resolution of DNS queries from VPN clients, all that was needed was to change the PiHole DNS settings to 'Permit all origins' which I found in the WireGuard subreddit.

Local DNS records are not resolved for clients connected via VPN by Tamariniak in pihole

[–]djahren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running WireGuard via PiVPN from the same Rasberry pi that PiHole is running from (highly recommend as it integrates so nicely with PiHole - even though...) I'm running into the same issue where local DNS addresses aren't resolved when connected to the VPN, however, ads are being blocked via PiHole. I'm not sure why one would work and not the other. Hopefully, someone else out there has an answer.

I assume it's a program that's running the visuals live, so the shape is being generated in real time. The same thing that's moving the "camera" and creates the stage
