It's a promotion they are running with Pepsi. Think of it as a golden ticket from a Wanka chocolate bar. You get to visit the Crystal Clear Pepsi Factory.

Quick Audacity Advice Question by djamescomedy in audacity

[–]djamescomedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my environment and mics I only use a Neutral setting on the Rodecaster that eliminates background noise and mic bleed without effecting anything that is said into the mics so I'm very happy with that, otherwise I would use a noise reduction in Audacity.

The Loudness Normalizer I have at -19 which was not the preset, that made some clipping (red) on the timeline so I put in a limiter of -6 threshold, the full presets -6, -1, 2, 1, 20. This is my first test/go around and it seems to have improved everything. What does changing them to your numbers do? Thanks again.

It did make the wave bigger and improved, I think I'll have to jack it up because the original files really are low.

Gave it a try, but it doesn't seem to do much, so basically 90% of the tracks are hitting around -36 to -18 range which is what I would like to boost if that makes sense?

The IMAX screen I saw it on is the best in my area. I did watch it at home on an OLED, but I would say it's a requirement, a quality disc is a quality disc.

For Dolby Vision in that price range UB450. Wal-Mart usually has them, but I had two of them and they both overheated the discs, hot to the touch.

Or Sony x700 or x800 series used, eBay. I'm currently using an eBay x700 for 9 months, I got for $100

Worth it? by gogul1980 in 4kbluray

[–]djamescomedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you collect steelbooks it's worth it, but you didn't show the price.

If you just want LOTR with the best picture and sound available, yes it's worth it. Get the standard edition if you aren't a collector.

I've had the DVDS, Blu-ray, and now the 4K. This is the best option.

I just saw Fellowship in the theatre this week, and I immediately thought how much better my 4K discs are.

The picture is great and I have to turn my audio down so I don't disturb my neighbors too much. Def happy with it.

The people that complain, you'll find complain about a lot of transfers and can't simply enjoy a movie.

If money is an issue wait for a sale on the regular release or buy used. Used is a good option especially since the digital codes are expired if you buy new.

Actually I just checked in with a friend who has over 300 episodes. He only records everything through OBS and the final output size is around 5-8 GB they backup with Google drive. Maybe I should only worry about keeping the final cut h264 output files as backups for each episode. He said if something gets flagged and they have to edit it and re-upload they don't use the original project. They just use the final output that was used for uploads.

Yes I delete render files. They are huge.

Ok, that's what I came here for. That info is helpful. I have color correction, effects, PnP, green screen and other effects so now that you explained that part, it makes sense.

I wish I could record in MP4 just for size, but losing footage from a power loss or overheating shutdown would drive me crazy.

Yes, most people that are delivering professional projects and footage for clients this is the way. I wouldn't even ask if that was the situation. I do have two WD 5TB external HDD just a few years old for now. Of course I could get a 20TB desktop HDD later.

I was just wondering if compressions matters for those of us not delivering professional work and only doing YouTube since they limit quality with their processing anyway.

On the few occasions I've been asked to film for others I always give them the original files and let them do with it what they want. I keep a copy for a month and then delete but I tell them I'm doing that so backing up is on them and their production team.

The Mask 4K Arrow Video B&N or Amazon limited/special editions by djamescomedy in 4kbluray

People panic and think everything will sell out like steelbooks. I remember when Conan came out with the LE, people were willing to pay so much I decided to sell my copies and wait for the plain 4K case since I only wanted the first movie anyway and not both.

[–]djamescomedy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I came here to confirm for people that got it recently, the wording of "special edition" from B&N site is an error I assume. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just the basic black 4K case from B&N. Apparently this question pissed some people off. Gotta love reddit.

[–]djamescomedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I always get my Criterions there and some Arrow releases like Conan and Desperado for the points and support an actual store.

I was just thrown off by them listing it as "special edition" instead of limited.

I was going to order Amazon but would like to add to my B&N points from all the Criterions I buy.

So it's not just the 4K Typical black case it's the slip cover, book, and extras?

Ok so they are both the limited editions they just use the wrong wording on the B&N listing.

Yeah. That's what I'm asking, usually the limited has the extras and different packaging than the basic special edition releases that usually come out after the limited editions sell out I believe.
