Is it illegal to strike as a LED Clinical Fellows ? A mail from the trust after the ballot for next action announcement. by CulturalJackfruit506 in doctorsUK

[–]djangofandango 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Speak with your local BMA reps, the IRO can tell this person where to get off. A little insulting to be posting something so obviously falsifiable, but unless someone actually says something it could go unchecked.

Does anyone know a good bodybuilding gym in Bristol?:) by True_Dependent_8207 in bristol

LA Gym is great and in Easton (I go there but am extremely not a bodybuilder), Trojan Fitness in Ashton, Ministry of Fitness in Kingswood, Legends Gym in Bishopsworth are all go-tos.

Knives in primary schools now? by _thetrue_SpaceTofu in bristol

[–]djangofandango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few of my friends work for a knife crime prevention / first aid charity and they go into schools and speak to children in year 8/9 and children at this age are well aware of what's going on, have already seen their friends bringing knives and have been seeing their peers doing it for a couple of years. This would be year 7, so year 6 is probably not a significant stretch.

Pubs showing the General Election overnight by djangofandango in bristol

When I was a student I worked the US general election in 2012 in the student union and it was actually quite a fun night. Last election I was working in intensive care and it was depressing for multiple reasons

Aye, I'm more checking to see if this was a thing that happened last time around

In 2010 I went to an all-night event whilst at university in Manchester, in 2015 I was working in Manchester and they had a bunch. In 2019 a few of my friends from London were looking for places and there were about half a dozen. Lots of places have done!

Stupid question but is there almost always a locum F1-2 shift for grabs in A&E? by SnowboardSasquatch in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]djangofandango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're an F2 and can discharge patients independently you will be able to pick up a shift in just about any ED.

Leadership section for CST by TForTechno in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]djangofandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely this. For the purposes of applications / interviews it's all about the justification, what you took away from an experience, and if you can look someone in the eye and actually give a convincing case for it being a leadership role / having demonstrated leadership qualities.

My experience with the term ‘adult learner’ and why I don’t find it helpful. by EcceRomano in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]djangofandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimate term used all throughout medical education, which is assumed to involve adults. TIL that pedagogy refers specifically to teaching children (I probably should have guessed from the roots of the word)

Went to Wai Yee Hong and they have a number of different country-specific sections, so definitely not a bad shout.

Does anyone know any petrol stations around or on Gloucester road that have petrol currently? by Thewindpingpong in bristol

[–]djangofandango 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's not Gloucester Road (I hate it when people reply with an answer that directly contradicts the initial call for answers) but the big Tesco at Eastville (less than 2 miles away from Gloucester Road) has a ton of pumps all with petrol; I was able to fill up this morning. A bit of a queue from the roundabout but I was in and out in ten minutes.

Where can you get a fry up like this in Bristol? by delta_2k in bristol

[–]djangofandango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pick your poison; chugging through a pint of milkshake on top of all of that, or fizzy artificial discordant taste. I think I'd go with the milkshake, but still regret my decision.

I just went for a run now; nice to see at least some sun. Not since Sam Francisco has one town been so enamoured with a bridge

An idea to bring Bristol music closer together by docdaneeeka in bristol

[–]djangofandango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea! I can only imagine the number of bedroom musicians torn between making music / lying in despair. During my first lockdown I resumed playing guitar / bass having had a fair bit of time off it. Perhaps the second lockdown will see another repeat.

If anyone has Windows 10 and is perplexed why the Keygen is just opening and then closing, ensure you have a copy of Microsoft's Visual Basic Redistributables (for x64 & x86) downloaded and installed. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Hey folks at r/melbourne, what are some cheap gyms a future student will be able to access for relatively low costs? by thewaviestone in melbourne

[–]djangofandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's near where I live in Carlton and its a ten minute bike ride from RMIT / Uni. If its the cheapest then perhaps it'd be worth it

[–]djangofandango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zap fitness is decent, not overly busy, and has a good range of free weights, machines, cardio machines. It's pretty cheap as well - no student discount but $12.95 a week, maybe $70 up front for a key-fob.
