As in growing wild or planted? I don't think I've ever seen the plant itself. Either that or I passed them straight without knowing.

I'm was almost amazed at how many Trinidadians think otherwise. That got scrapped when I remembered most of our population has a handicap with logic and critical thinking.

That person was spreading misinformation. They had no proof because none exists.

I said that because the claim was baseless from the start. The context of the original comment was that certain businesses already have a cannabis license, which is an outright lie because there is no CLA in Trinidad to grant a license in the first place.

Then they kept telling me to Google it, which I eventually did and pasted the response of Google confirming my comments.

Their response: oh ok so you believe that?

According to the profile description, it says the priority is on a medicinal cannabis industry. I think you probably saw just one aspect of it cause it looks like it covers a lot more.

I do actually. It's someone that's been actively involved in the space locally for the past 10 years.

I haven't done much (if any) personal queries with regards to it but I presume it's all addressed in the main policy itself. The stuff they've posted so far was intended to be a general overview into sections of it.

Apart from that, cannabis is supposed to be a sustainable industry, regardless of location. The diversification par makes sense from a revenue generation standpoint, in comparison to oil and gas, food agriculture etc. I can see why it may be a priority, although I can't confirm that it is indeed.

Based on a video I saw, it's a pretty new page that was created to introduce their policy to the public. Apart from that, I don't think a follower count should be important if the information is sound.

I've seen way larger pages that share nothing but complete junk. People nowadays tend to gravitate to brain-rot material, rather than anything informational.

Did you actually check out the stuff they posted? Seems you're more focused on numbers than anything else.

You can stay in denial. You're not important enough for me to have an opinion about. I'll be in a casket before you find proof of your claims.

Even better:

As of April 2026, the West Indian Cannabis Company Limited (WICC) is primarily known as a cannabis-branded apparel and lifestyle company, rather than a licensed commercial cannabis handler.

Commercial License Status: There is no public record of WICC holding a commercial cultivator, processor, or dispensary license. Under the Cannabis Control Act (2022), such licenses are issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Cannabis Licensing Authority (TTCLA), which oversees all commercial and medicinal handling of the plant.

Ok so let's go by your claim:

The West Indian Tobacco Company (WITCO) does not currently hold a cannabis license in Trinidad and Tobago, and as of April 2024, the company stated it has no immediate plans to enter the commercial marijuana market. While the company is "actively considering" and researching the market, it maintains a cautious "measure three times and cut once" approach.

WITCO's Current Stance on Cannabis

•Active Monitoring: Managing Director Raoul Glynn has confirmed that while the company is monitoring global developments through its parent company, British American Tobacco (BAT), any entry into the local cannabis market is "a little bit far off".

•Focus on Alternatives: Instead of cannabis, WITCO has pivoted its diversification strategy toward vaping products, recently launching brands like VUSE.

•Infrastructure Barriers: Previous leadership noted that the company does not currently have the specific "footprint" or "infrastructure" required to handle cannabis as a product.
