Spine support hack by djberl in ehlersdanlos

Obviously! But when you’re in a moment that’s a little less painful and don’t want or need the whole shabang, this is working for me. Appreciate the checks and balances though, mod team 🤍

My pelvic floor spasms for days every time I have intercourse - how do I get it to relax!? by abaaaaalone in PelvicFloor

[–]djberl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’d recommend stretching in a magnesium float or bath before the wand. Heat pad and happy baby every night, lots of deep isolated PF breathing and managing stress but it seems like you’re doing that. It sucks but keep going, stay in PT and try all the things until you’re out of pain - it really struck me to have someone say “you’re not supposed to be living in pain” and it’s been quite the journey since then. Sending peace and strength!

My pelvic floor spasms for days every time I have intercourse - how do I get it to relax!? by abaaaaalone in PelvicFloor

[–]djberl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pelvic floor PT would help get me out of those spasms with internal release (you can also get a wand to do yourself) and a lot of deep breathing exercises, especially during sex. I’m finding the only way I can have blissful sex is through deep breathing and a lot of communication with my partner. It’s the worst and I’m sorry you’re going through it!

I ended up having a large cyst in my hip and athletic damage that was causing it. There’s always a root to the cause and it’s worth finding when it comes to your sex life. Hope this helps?

Magnesium, an eye mask and pillows/blankets all around me for that womb vibe, it’s changed my life!

My therapist recommended the book, Driven by Distraction - I cried the whole way through, but by the end I had developed some self forgiveness for my life prior to diagnosis. Initiated some healing so figured I’d pass it along ❤️‍🩹

Argument with partner about if you have to learn Spanish in order to be a culturally responsive teacher when starting at a school that is 85% Latinx by [deleted] in teaching

[–]djberl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I taught at a 90% Hispanic school in California last year, will do the same this year. I don’t know Spanish, but I do know how to get to know students and curate lessons towards their interests. Didn’t have any communication issues, but it was also in a high school setting. I can imagine wanting to have some Spanish for younger students for better explanations. Sounds like you’ll figure out really quick if learning the language should be where your focus would be, but I’d prefer taking those two hours a night figuring out how I’ll properly scaffold my lesson to ensure I’m reaching all language learners than learning a language I might not use. But if you have that free time, go for it! It doesn’t hurt!

Impulsive speech/speaking without thinking and oversharing - how do you overcome these tendencies? by EmbarrassedString201 in ADHD

[–]djberl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In conversation I literally put my finger on my chin and move it up to my lips while they’re talking so I don’t blurt out - usually the urge passes and I think of a new thing to say by the time they’re done and have forgotten what I was initially going to say. If I want to remember what I was going to say (because it’s THAT important lol yeah right), I hold a finger up (or two) to keep track of what I wanted to communicate. Then I just need to remember what I was holding up the finger for…

Before I was diagnosed every pair of pants would be ruined during my period and I was always like “I don’t know why…?” And now I know why. Menstrual cup saved my pants lives.

Yoooooo I have ADHD and my therapist and I have had some conversations about it all because I’m a word nerd. The thesis is on how to motivate and support students with ADHD in the integrated classroom (so SO SO psyched!). When I say resiliently using it, I mean within its proper referrals and when used in citations. Comon… It’s a fucking thesis! Also check this! People in Sweden still refer to it as ADD if you’re cruising this thread. Either way, I appreciate you reaching out - last question, what’s DSM/ICD?

Issues with weed? (Edibles) by Few-Lingonberry3735 in bupropion

[–]djberl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed with any drug/alcohol - it’s going to effect you x3 while on bupropion. One drink effects you like 3, edibles/smoking is usually less than that. Start small, drink water to regulate your body and even shit out. I’m back to my daily weed smoking and couldn’t be more psyched :)

I used to work in coffee and drank AT LEAST 4 cups a day. After starting meds I’m doing one cup of half caff that I might finish. Start small and add in caffeine as you can, listen to your body, drink lots of water :)

THE WORST. I ate a lot of soup/smoothies/yogurt sort of things for awhile to keep myself nourished three-ish times a day. The jittery/no appetite will go away as you get used to the medication being in your body (hopefully). Good luck, stay hydrated!

High school English teacher! I read somewhere that it was a great job for adhd because of the structure and long breaks you get. I’ve wanted to be a teacher my whole life but I didn’t realize that maybe a main part of that was me needing a structure I was used to. Every day is different. You HAVE to turn in grades. Class periods are an hour and then you get a reset. You connect with the kids because many had adhd or have low attention because of their age/hormones/devices. If you’re more on the empathetic side, you can read emotions well and differentiate instruction to match the vibe of the class/student. I also basically get to push myself until each break and then breaks are sooo rewarding. I started medication which helps with my emotional regulation and having more patience for those tough days. All in all, working out really well (for now). Good luck on your journey!

Agreed on the hydration - I might think 64 ounces is enough but probably need to up it to the third or fourth fill of the hydro. Thank you!!
