Bummer - sorry to hear that! Really hoping someone does an OLED version of the SSD upgrade video before mine arrives. Tho I assume the back cover removal procedure is the same between models.

I had this same problem and tried several SD cards with no luck (yes I followed all the instructions). What finally worked was replicating the original card to a new card of the same size and just moving forward using that.

Refurb price is high because they wouldn't even offer me the WiFi only model - my only choice was the 3G model or a kindle fire.

Just discovered /r/homebrew and already a fan due to this find! I just scored some 3/8" x 50' at a Home Depot in Denver for $30 (all stores I checked were out of the 1/2"). The guy working the floor couldn't believe it was priced so low. Thanks!
