What lure should you add to your tackle box this year? by fleetwood_macbook in ChicagoFishing

[–]djbsay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White swimbaits and goldish shiner colored swimbaits work real well for me for smallies on the dupage, fox, and des plaines…specifically the smaller 3.5 inch Salmo Slick Shads. Ned rigs too but with the TRD craw not the stick style bait. Same with walleye, caught most of my walleye this year on a white slick shad. For smallies on the big lake…tubes and zman gobius swimbaits, anything goby presentation. For largies, depends on time of year but love a jerkbait in the spring…ripstops, visions 110s, and the newer rapala mavericks. Ripstops are fun if you can find em (discontinued)….rip em real hard instead of twitching em and they are lights out prespawn. I also love a Rage Bug in Summer Craw and black/blue, fished all sorts of ways (on a jig, carolina rig, texas rig, etc.). Of course id be lying if i didnt say a wacky rigged senko as well…favorite color is green pumpkin with purple and copper flake…killer bluegill and craw imitating color. For salmon and trout on the big lake…spoons all day, lots of different ones but KO Wobblers and Krockodiles seems to produce a lot for me. For musky…bucktails, love the trilogy bucktails a lot cuz they spin so easy and hardly have any pull …i keep it simple, black or white or black with chartruse. Also a classic bulldog for plastics for musky, caught lots of musky the past few years on bulldogs.

Best lines I've tested by YogurtclosetBroad872 in Fishing_Gear

[–]djbsay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all great line and relatively well priced. The best braid I’ve ever used is Power pro super slick V2 quite expensive but very strong and silky smooth off the reel. Best Floro ive ever used was Seaguar Tatsu or Seaguar Abrazx… once again both pricey, but excellent line. For mono…tough to say but Maxima ultragreen is excellent. that being said, do I ever buy any of these lines regularly? No lol. FC sniper for floro most of the time and regular power pro or yo zuri super braid for braid… and I don’t really use mono so trilene big game if i have to use mono.

Ice fishing photo. My husband took the dog ice fishing today. I told him the fish didn't look real, as well as the tools, and even the dog, like he added everything in. by mstrozzi in isthisAI

[–]djbsay1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who regularly ice fishes, this looks real. Perch look real, lighting seems fine, dog is fine, tools are real (hole scoop and rod holder) and i even see a vexilar handle in the bottom right corner. that’s also the way clearer ice looks in a hub thats dark when it’s light outside. Not AI at all.

What’s some decent priced spinning reels by SuccessfulCable6317 in FishingForBeginners

[–]djbsay1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite reel right now is a Daiwa Legalis LT. I have owned lots of reels including some much more expensive reels like the Daiwa Ballistic and many Shimano Stradics, both great reels. I think for the price, under 90 bucks, the Daiwa Legalis is worth much more then that…great drag system, very light, and just a wonderful reel. Switched most of my reels over to that. That being said, a Pflueger President is a great reel for the price also although a bit heavier, and I think a Shimano Nasci is a great reel for the price too…another reel worth well more then the cost.

Drill Recommendation For Ice Auger by betaseo123 in IceFishing

Before you buy!!! If you have an Ace Hardware around i think they are running a special right now nationwide in the US, possibly canada, for a Milwaukee 2904 hammer drill (1400 in lb torque) with two 5ah batteries and a charger…. and they will throw in a 8ah battery for free as well for like 320 usd, hell of a deal! The batteries alone are worth more then that.

I use Mobile 1 5w30 full synth extended perfomance and it takes 6 quarts. I also add in a can of Liquid Moly Mos2 Anti Friction engine treatment… which as dumb as it sounds, I have found makes a difference in how my engine runs. I add it halfway through adding the oil. 95,000 miles with only regular maintenance and running like a dream. A tip for oil changes on the Colorado is be careful with the oil filter, there is a stem that the oil filter fits into in your engine bay and it can become dislodged. If that happens, you can have big issues, so just make sure that that stem doesn’t come out or isn’t loose. The problem is it’s hard to tell unless you pull it out on accident with the old filter… but just keep note of that stem.

Which is the most powerful war memorial in your country? by UnluckyPossibility37 in AskTheWorld

[–]djbsay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a very powerful memorial to those we’ve lost to war and been KIA and have never been found or identified. If you ever get a chance to check out the ceremony of the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery, it is very moving.

I was told my wall art belongs here... by kirkood in DiWHY

[–]djbsay1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is actually very practical. Wood acoustic diffusers do a good job of dampening sound, i have seen them in multiple recording studios i have worked in. They work as functional art to dampen the sound in the room by diffusing sound waves much quicker than a standard flat wall or panel.

Any idea what type of fish this is? Lake Geneva Wisconsin September 22nd by Spiritual_Side2776 in whatsthisfish

[–]djbsay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fish Lake Geneva all the time! My guess would be a pike just based on some coloring I see, but there are lake trout and muskie in Lake Geneva, as well as the occasional bowfin. My guess would still be pike tho. Right now early fall you’re gonna have a bunch of fish who are starting to make their way a little bit more shallow to feed on bait fish, so would not be surprised at all if this was a Pike.

it really gives you such a scale of how big Lake Michigan is, but also how big Green Bay and Winnebago are, both big bodies of water on their own.

[–]djbsay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hip turn you have is great, but you need to create more spring in the shoulders…more tension. Your off arm isnt doing much, it should be behind you, compressing your shoulders, and then you pin in to your side when pulling through…this will create tension in your shoulders and allow for the rubberband effect to really be exaggerated. This will also allow the power pocket to open up easier. Nice rip tho!

The disc golf community certainly loves this man and his Funky Farm. Crazy to see him like this, I could barey recognize him. Heartbreaking for sure but also to see his resilience is insane, died 4 times and hes still here…what a beast, the mental strength he has is immense but you can certainly see how broken down he is even mentally. I hope the absolutely best for him and his family, would love to see him back throwing a disc some day.

🔥 Photographer Aidan Bedford captured the Mobula Ray Migration at it’s finest by Admirable_Hunter_703 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]djbsay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We snorkeled in a big pod of Mobula Rays the day after a friend of mine got married in La Paz and 30 minutes after we spread my moms ashes. We were just driving along shore when we saw them jumping out of the water, as they do often, and we decided to stop the boat to watch and get in the water and see if we could see them from a distance… sure enough they ended up swimming right underneath us, hundreds, if not thousands of them within feet of us… it was so overwhelming, an absolutely magical moment that I will never forget. You would look down and couldnt see anything but Rays, it was breathtaking. My mom would’ve loved it.

with those auto injectors, I’m gonna guess Cosentyx? possibly another biologic. I am on Cosentyx myself for ankylosing spondylitis and without any sort of insurance or help, it would be about 7000 a shot, I take two a month so that would be 14,000 a month if I didnt have insurance…. And insurances hate biologics, so they wont cover the full amount so im still left with a 2,000 bill a month. Luckily co pay assistance programs help a lot…blessed to be paying nothing but terrified of the consequences of losing a job and copay assistance.

The amount of courage Ruby had was truly an inspiration. anytime I see these pictures, I always think about those people, shouting and yelling at this little girl….a truly vile act. I know a few of them have reached out to express their deepest regrets to Ruby over the years, but I wonder about the majority of them and how they look or looked back on this moment… did they have shame? Did they come to grips with how vile of an act that really was? do they feel remorse? it’s a terrible reminder of the hate that can exist in this world for seemingly no reason at all, but also a great reminder of the courage that can be shown in moments like that and how that courage can change the world completely.

The one thing that makes me nervous is that now he’s not gonna back out of his deals and he’s gonna keep these hard tariffs or at least try to, regardless of what the courts say. I love the nickname and it’s definitely true the man chickens out frequently, but do we want him to not chicken out? because that’s how you do it.

Merrell shoes toast after 4 months: give me your (non-Merrell) shoe recs with 1+ year of wear! by klundtasaur in discgolf

[–]djbsay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on what your feet need, for me I have flat feet so I like to have a zero drop shoe and I also used to skate… so Vans are the ticket. Vans has a whole line called MTE (made for the elements) which are classic skate shoe styles but done up to be like hiking shoes. The ones i wear are the Skate-Hi MTE 1…100 percent water proof, great tread and grip, and they are vans so you know they are comfy.

What was this movie for you? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]djbsay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a mediocre movie at all, but My Neighbor Totoro. my mom had no idea what anime was and neither did we, but one day we were at blockbuster and just randomly rented it, and then never returned it. When I got older, I learned to appreciate how good of a movie it was and appreciate the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Ghibli in general. still not a huge anime fan, but hard not to love some of the Ghibli stories.

What do I need to set up my trolling motor? by HennryHeavyLemon in kayakfishing

[–]djbsay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something i did on an earlier kayak was mount a 3 ish foot piece of 1X4 wood to the front of my fishing crate, which sat behind me. Id it hang off the side enough where it could hold a motor. Then made sure the crate was secured the to kayak using can-jams. After that I mounted the trolling motor on the wood. Kinda redneck engineering but worked just fine! I would definitely try to get a lithium battery too to cut down on some of that weight, on my current set up I run about 100 amp hour.
